Jalen steele has been committed to MT for a couple months.... may have already signed. kermit davis is basically Tyndalls mentor... he will not try to get steele

Didn't jalen dream of being a Vol? In the end its his choice if he has the option and Kermit isn't the type to stand in his way. Tyndall wouldn't just take from his mentor but I'm sure they could talk about it if the kid wants it to happen.

I'm pretty sure grad transfers don't sign anything binding until they sign the financial aid papers. Since Steele is attending Alabama right now and apparently won't graduate for a bit, I can't imagine he's signed anything yet.

That said, no idea if he's being pursued, but I'd hope Tyndall is doing so. You can't afford to be buddy buddy on the recruiting trail.

If Steele was a major impact guy who was the difference in a 18 and 22 win season, I would agree possibly. However, Steele isn't going to start over Hubbs or Richardson, and would be a role player off the bench. Not knocking him, but I'm not sure you burn a long time friendship over a role player.

I used that one already...conventional wisdom is that because he was 14 at the time of the crime, all the squawking I heard at the time didn't exist :unsure: Hood was an exemplary rep for our Vols on and off the field...and Pollard did nothing close as reprehensible...he did a favor for his Mom...any of you "yahoos" making absolute statements about him being a risk...don't cut yourself on the glass! :w00t:

I think if you were a non-graduate transfer, you'd have to declare your intentions to transfer and then sit out a year. Doesn't work the other way around.

I'm not sure or the rule, but I don't believe just because he didn't play last year he can play immediately this year.

Steele, a 6-foot-3 guard and former Knoxville Fulton High star, did not graduate in time at Mississippi State to use his final year of eligibility at MTSU. If he would have graduated by now, Steele, a former Mississippi State starter, could have played for the Blue Raiders immediately this season.
Saying if he could take a few summer courses and enroll in the fall at UT as you suggested, he could have done the same at Mississippi State, no?

“All I can say is that Jalen had to graduate from Mississippi State in order to be eligible to play here, and he did not meet those requirements to date,” MTSU coach Kermit Davis said. Can't meet Tennessee's requirements either.
