I'm terribly sorry if this has been posted already, and MODs please delete if so, but does anybody else see the hilarious irony in all the early talk about him being a TE possibly coming to fruition?

The 'He's too tall', 'He's moving to TE' conversations from years gone by. My how the idiots have been proven right.

For the record, I thought they were idiots too! I was wrong...maybe.

I was one of idiots. It's nice being right for once. My mom said I wouldn't amount to anything. Guess being right once runs in the family.

The problem is his body type doesnt fit the TE role either maybe in a H back type.. The kid could have been a monster at LB.. Chief and Fulmer recruited athletic RB types in the day and grew and developed them into phenomenal Linebackers.. Jalen always fit that mold then again Tee Martin did say that he was/is soft..

He isn't big enough to play TE in D1, and he isn't nearly quick enough to play WR. I just can't see this working out.

But, I guess we'll see when it comes time and other schools start offering him a chance to play for them.

This guy, Jalen, is lost at this point.

Lost to our team and lost within himself.

However, our awesome posters KNEW all along he was a TE.

VolNation is a smart bunch. :clapping:

Jason Witten 6'5 - 265

Jalen Hurd - 6'4 240 pounds

Jalen will easily add 25 pounds to his frame

Bama and a few other programs were trying to sell him on being a OLB. He wasn't having none of it. Butch told him he'd play RB so he came here is what i heard on the radio today. Makes sense. He would be ideal for OLB..

Yes TE, many thought this when he was signed... too tall for RB, and not really a natural runner. Hope he finds his way...

He got the perfect body type to be a modern day athletic tight end. He's 6'5 240 as a RB. He can easily add 20-30 lbs to his frame. I think he's got a great chance to be the Jimmy Graham/ Gronk style tight end that has become so popular lately, wich would give him more value in the NFL than as a bigger slower RB.

He's 6'3 1/2 if you don't count his hair he would be a small tight end in the league.
This will be proven if he ever gets invited to the NFL combine where they do real 40 times and real measurements. No inflation when their paying you

Hurd just made one of the strangest moves I have ever seen by a player during the season. The way his Vol career ended will drop him like a rock in NFL evaluations. Is he seriously wanting to transfer to another program and play TE or will he enter the combine? He is out on a limb either way as what program wants to invest heavy practice time on a one year free agent type kid wishing to play a new position? Totally bizarre. Good luck to him and maybe it will work out senseless as it seems.

That's actually not true. He is taller and as bigger as Aaron Hernandez was. Hernandez was 6''1 245. And her is 6'4 230 to 240. So he is big enough🤔 I just think he has positioned hisself as a running back and I think he is real but just feel for longevity and NFL play tightend would be better for him. He can play receiver too. The days if big tightends are gone. Just look in NFL. So he has the size. It's whether can he develop efficient route running ability

Hurd was fastest on team. So he not slow. He was a legit 4.3. There is footage of him running 21 mph.on treadmill on slope. So he definitely has speed. It's can he run routes

You are correct. Hurd will end up playing RB at his new school and will be "misused" in the same way he was here.

He might play on Sundays as a RB and suffer further "misuse," but I see zero chance of him doing that as a TE or WR.

You might be right but I am almost certain that Aaron Hernandez is AT LEAST 6'3.. Regardless Hurds 6'4 is more like 6'2 1/2 he would be a undersized tight end at the next level.. It just seems like from Saturday to Sunday the 6'5 250 in the NFL is quite different feom the 6'5 250 in college ball..

He has to find a school that will take him and let him try to be a TE. He clearly has a attitude problem or something going on. Right now he is nothing but poison to a locker room.

Hurd is every bit of 6'4". unlike most positions, RB is not one where players fudge on height.

He looks slim at 240, so 260 wouldn't be problem. I'd love to have seem him at H-back. with a week Oline it would have been good to have some sets with an Hback and TE to chip block and help the tackles. I guess that escaped the innovative minds of the staff.

He has been gem at running back, but, assuming he liked the hitting, Jalen Hurd would be a monster at linebacker. He is a rare combo or size, speed and athleticism. I cannot attest to his mentality or heart. Until this year and last few games, I did not any cause of concern.
