It seems to me, that our passing defense is not atrocious, it is those few plays where our DBs/Safeties are out of position or get burned for huge gains. I hope our secondary continues to improve and a lot of it seems to be learning fundamentals and positioning (i.e. turning head around). Looking at Hurts stats they are not anything special, but I only seen 2 INTs so it seems that he makes good decisions.
The thing that concerns me in this game is the glaring weakness that we have had on the edge. In the UGA game they begin to exploit it, and for some reason A&M didn't until near the end of the game when they gashed us for two huge plays. I feel like Shoop will be able to scheme around this and at least put a band-aid on it. If we can contain Hurts and the secondary does not allow any huge plays I like our chances. I think our defense is stout in the middle. This may be another shootout and if our offense can score on Alabama's defense then we can win this game. It would also be nice for the defense to help with some scores of their own! Go Vols!
