Like I said that was every bit as bad as Malik's mistake. I'm sure Malik got a chewing and so should Hurd. Both will learn from it. Thank God for the Hail, Mary and the cross on Butch's shoe which I hope is there every game from here on out.Hurd's effort can't be questioned. Made a mistake, but from all reports that had nothing to do with it.
You're cute comment is noted though.

You keeping Butch's "List of Names"??!!
Frankly...I think Hurd was benched, and like what is actually said @halftime...only those close to the situation on the sideline really know.
That's spelled T-A-F for the "List"....since you're keeping track, Face.
So he screws up and you leave him in to score a touchdown later in the game, and then bench him for his earlier mistake, and that is supposed to send a message? That makes zero ****ing sense

Timing's all wrong for him to be punished for the near-TD fumble. Besides, you don't punish headspace & timing errors that way; benching is for more deliberate and eggregious acts of rebellion. So don't think that was it at all.
I also don't think he's injured. There was ZERO evidence of that--no medical monitoring, no favoring anything, nothing--and the sideline reporter was watching for signs the entire second half.
Coach did say that Jalen had a "lower extremity problem" and refused to say anything more. Here's how I interpret that: the lower extremity was his butt, and the problem was, it acted dumb. As in, he said something inappropriate to one of the coaches, acted out in some way, and got benched for being a "dumb azz." Alternatively, maybe Butch was thinking of "foot in mouth disease." Either way, lower extremity issue.
No worries, he's a young man, and young men make heated remarks that they learn to regret. No permanent harm, no permanent foul, we'll see him back on the field carrying the load for the team next week.
Go Vols!
