Jalen Hurd-this may be the game where he puts himself on the national radar

If every Vol played with Hurd's heart and determination Florida would be doing some soul searching and praying to call off the Ducks

Our O line will dominate the talented, but undersized gators defensive front seven and force that "Amazing secondary" to consistently make tackles in the box. Gators linebackers are talented, but suspect too.

Vols - 44
Gators - 13

I'd bet we see some of it tomorrow but then again that's probably just me being hopeful:dunno:

I have mixed feelings about that. Both Majors and Fulmer were very good at masking soft spots on the offensive line with strong lead blocking FB's such as William Howard, Roland Poles, Greg Amsler, Mario Brunson, Shawn Bryson and Will Bartholomew. I also think Hurd needs a running start on the hand off and will never look his best when the QB is in shotgun. On the other hand, if it's not something that you work on regularly in practice, it's not likely to be successful against a good defense.

I have not weighed in on this topic in particular. But I do not und3rstan why in the hell we are not running Jalen out of the I at least 6 -8 times a game. Even if they stack the box you could hit Malone or Williams over the top or at least make the threat known

I know they run a few I formatiin plays against NW in the bowl game and I think we will be amazed at the playcalling tomorrow.

If not, I find it hard to expect a win.

I truly hope we put Jalen and Kamara in the I at the same time, or Jalen and Kelly. They are all SEC backs and deserve touches. I expect Jalen to get the hard yards but Kelly or maybe Kamara to break a chunk yardage play. If we go over 150 on the ground I think we win.

You are definitely right about that. The sad thing is Hurd would probably already be Tennessee's all time rusher if he had a above average line. I think he is the best rb prospect we have had at Rb since Jamal Lewis. Big dominate back with great hands and can score in short yardage

Heard a stat on this today. We have run over 200 plays on offense in the first three games. Out of those we have only had Kamara and Hurd in the backfield at the same time four plays.
No, you read that right. Four times. I think that changes tomorrow.

I like Hurd, but this offense does nothing for his skill. He will struggle to get 75 yds today. I hope I eat crow on this.

Travis Henry and Travis Stephens might disagree with that.

I'd be happy if first contact doesn't occur in the back field for more than 1/3 of his runs. Unfortunately I expect him to get hit in the backfield on half of his runs.

Hurd would rush for 2,000 yards / season if he had our offensive lines and philosophy of the late 80s and 90s.

Not trying to be a smart ass but Hurd will be the all time leading rusher by seasons end barring injury. Comprehension skills are needed. If Hurd had the line those guys had it would have already been passed
