Jalen Hurd not leaving...

Once upon a time, our favorite program was downtrodden and had finished below Vandy...yes, FREAKING VANDY!...on signing day. Defeatists on this board and throughout the fanbase declared that we couldn't sign the 4 star running backs, much less the primo recruit in our own state...most "experts" had him a lock for Ohio State and if that changed, Bama Florida or even Vandy before the Vols. Saw guarantees on here that it was the Buckeyes. We get a commit from Coleman Thomas...then BOOM! TKJr and suddenly this poster guarantees Jalen. Takes lots of flak! Says it's done. "Get ready to be happy". Others on the board cite reports of Urban Meyer being on speed dial with his Mom! This poster? " Happening any day now". MZTerry calls poster out for ruining family's moment. Poster assures her family is aware and on board. HURD COMMITS! VOLNATION EXPLODES! IMO most epic and uplifting Vols commit in the social media era! It was transforming. Since that time, I've never witnessed that poster, Vol74, issue ANY look at me posts or otherwise faulty posts. Wrong guess on a commit? Maybe , don't remember that either. Solid, reliable source on here. I back our coaches to a fault, but if you've watched JH get mauled because the blocking and play calling failed, you get frustrated...as a fan. Imagine that's somebody you've known since birth? Hating the information doesn't make it a lie.

So, putting it on here is going to change how the games were played. I'm not trying to make anyone mad but (again) if this was the truth. This or any message board was the wrong place to put this information. This is information that should be kept between JH, his family and the coaching staff.

Ok. The post you quoted was mainly a clarification on the poster. "Schmuck" "piece of crap" "drama queen" et al, seemed a little personal and misguided...KB and other posters respect Vol74 for a good reason.

Football is pretty awesome. One of the biggest reasons that its pretty awesome is because it isn't Days of Our Lives. Please stop turning football into Days of Our Lives..

We don't PLAY football on here...we talk about it. You don't want to see Days of Our Lives? Don't turn it on. :good!:

Hey dumbarse.... he asked the question, and I answered it. The reason the rumor EVER had any legs whatsoever is because of who was bringing the information. For example, had it been you who had said it, I would've correctly said it was stupid, ridiculous, invalid. But it was Vol74. See the difference?

No I don't see the difference, genius boy. Do you know Vol74 personally? Oh that's right he has been right on a couple things in the past but so have I. I guess I am an "expert" now haha. I could care less what your opinion of me is. You were probably cheering the group of bumblers who were "insiders" on the Gruden search. Yes it makes logical sense that an NFL type running back is going to leave at the end of his sophomore year only to sit out another year which greatly reduces his draft status not to mention learn a completely new offense and possible have less production on top of that. Yes you are the genius haha.

saw this posted by his mom.

should end all doubt.

Why someone started this rumor to begin with is the real question :ermm:

First off, it figures you wouldn't see the difference.

Secondly, No, the idea that Hurd would leave Tennessee after his sophomore season and sit out a year doesn't make sense, never said it did. But hell, who ever thought that Vic Wharton, the Pied Piper of the great 2014 Legacy Class, was gonna leave last year? These are still young, somewhat immature, emotional young men.

All I've done is defend a poster who's been 100% right about everything he's posted about a player on here from day one, to whom he is related. That's worth something to me. There are only 3-4 "insiders" on VN that I feel confident about taking their information "to the bank"...LWS, GoFightWin, DeerPark....and Vol74. That's it. So while I didn't take 74s information and start imagining the 2016 RB depth chart without Jalen, I found the information credible and worth listening to given the source, something I don't do with other posters about 99.9% of the time. And he certainly didn't deserve the ish he's gotten on here given his track record. You're certainly entitled to disagree.

I can remember 74 calling the hurd commitment, and he has been right on info regarding hurd.
With that said, this one just seems silly. I see this more as jalen being frustrated at times and voicing it to family. Not for a second do i believe he would even truly consider leaving at this point.

He can either play another year and become UT's all time leader in rushing, then move on and get paid in the nfl, or transfer and sit out a year and learn a new system and all that bs. Its so illogical.

Lastly, not trying to get any panties wadded up here but i dont see why this info would be shared here. That seems more like something that should stay between the family and him. What does sharing it on a message board benefit? Im sure his mother enjoys having to respond to all the rumors now. The trying to be an insider stuff is ridiculous by some at times.

Haha, this place is great. The fact is no one still knows yet. No one. There are a few posters on this board that know the truth (specifically "Butchna" - yes, I know who you reached out to and what was said). Jalen's definitely wanting to stay more now (than before), but everything that I have ever brought to this board is the truth. All the family and friends have known what we've dealt with the past couple of months over all of this.

So, nothing has changed on my part, and like I've written before, I hope that he stays (like everyone else does). The only reason that I wrote anything is because I believe that many people on here are a little bit more invested than normal fans, and I didn't want anyone jumping off the ledge with disastrous news.

Take it however you want it. It was never fabricated nor is anything resolved 100%.

Happy Holidays and Go Vols!

Posting this crap does nothing. If Jalen was frustrated, it shows immaturity as he was over a thou rusher that struggled to break an arm tackle and still averaged over 5 a carry (should be his focus next year). I mean unlike Henry, Chubb, or Leonard who rarely were taken down by the first guy it seemed that Hurd if met one on one with a backer was going down. Also, our offense is run oriented so what feature back wouldn't be happy despite an immature kid. We had a banged up ol and we still rushed for a crap ton of yards. His last frustration may be that Kamara was a focus the last half of the year. He should have been as he was rarely brought down by the first defender.

It's stupid transfer after sophomore year. But good luck to whatever happens. Im glad hes with us and thankful for what he does and did, but were ut not vandy. You are with us or not.

The Hurd hate with you is strong. Nice.

It's all based on the premise that he wants to leave. I love hurd, I just dont think hes better than the top three in our league at this point.

Nor do I. But he's still a very good SEC RB and a huge part of our offense and losing him would be a big blow. Glad it appears he'll be here next year

Maybe so, but reading his posts it's pretty clear that he likes the attention he gets for his posts and feeling "superior" to the average fan. The main thing is if Jalen Hurd really considers him a friend enough to trust him with important information, then I'd bet you he'd be pretty pissed off to see that his "friend" Vol74 is posting sensitive information for thousands of people to see on the internet about him. If Hurd has found out about this then I'd imagine the Hurd updates will be coming in less and less from Vol74.

When's the last time Hurd has been made available for interview after practice, media session or game? I can't remember it's been so long. Question is why?

I will say this, I've noticed him on the sidelines during our 5-game win streak to end the season, it seems that he is struggling with something that belies his on the field performance... which has been great!

In a nutshell, he used to seem engaged with his teammates, "into" it and rah, rah VFL. His demeanor is different, there is something up but who knows what it could be. Maybe on field or off field... only a few know. Whatever it is... I hope he gets things sorted, dominates for us next season and then leaves for the NFL and gets paid! All JMHO...

I have noticed this as well. He just doesn't seem excited to be out there anymore. He still plows over people and runs hard but he doesn't act like he's excited to be doing it anymore...which is odd.

I think Vol74's tone changed with the negativity in responses to him. As legit as any poster I've seen in my couple of years on the board. I hate the message, but respect where it comes from. Not believing and not understanding is a YOU problem.

Also, this is some BS. Besides Henry maybe, no back in the SEC can get hit and still push forward like Hurd. He doesnt have the quickness to wiggle out like Fournette but he just powers through instead. He does however get squared up in the backfield fairly often (far more than any other big time SEC back) and in those cases, he goes down but any if them would. He absolutely does not struggle to break arm tackles.

Glad it "appears" this bs is based off of nothing. You are the only dolts talking about this, kind of like the Butch slap but continue on with the lunacy.

This whole thread started with a message from Jalen's Mom trying to calm the "dolts" down. He's coming back...the "lunacy" comes from the people complaining about the lunacy.

Well then, I just hope Jones can do enough to convince him that the blocking will be better next year. 2016 has the potential to be a great year for the team and all individuals on it.

The fact that she has to comment on the "dolts" is an absurdity in and of itself which is my whole point. Kind of like Jones having to comment on the "butch" slap, Jon Gruden's tie color, Josh Malone leaving, etc. etc. Do you not see the pattern here? There is one thing in common in all of these freak outs, the eeyores on this board, nothing else.

Punch yourself for complaining about 1100 yards rushing and the 5th best year for rushing in UT history
