Jalen Hurd injury...

Had he finished his junior year, Hurd would’ve been Tennessee’s all time high school and college rushing leader. Had he not switched positions Hurd would’ve had a 1st round NFL contract, and probably negotiating his second deal this year. Now he’s a fringe injury prone WR who’s name a Baylor friend of mine couldn’t remember. His decision couldn’t have worked out worse

Looking back on it, you're right.
He did what was best for him and that's my problem with the guy...he was all me and mine from day one.
He got sold a bill of goods just like we all did, but from day one I had the feeling he never gave it his all when he was here.

That said, yes some the blame lies with the coaches at that time and the culture they bred into the program.
His freshman and sophomore seasons, no one has ran any harder here. He took a freaking beating running out of that damn spread. Remember the bowl game? They went to a pro-set for much of the game and he tore it f'ing up and was promised that offense would be used much more often his junior year. I hate the that he quit, but I've got a feeling he was being misguided by his dumbass parents to a certain extent

It was the same exact play he scored a TD vs. UF a week before only to the other side. He was blindsided and fumbled. Does this really look like he quit?:

Does this look like a player that is showboating?

Here's the "showboating" play. Do you honestly think he is showboating?

Here is the same play the week prior vs. UF to the other side without a WR to the side he ran the route. If the WR simply ran a down and end or out that defender is out of the way. See 7:41 in the 3rd quarter:

He made a mistake in the Georgia game. It was stupid but he deserves forgiveness. He did some cool things here and I'm grateful for it. I want to remember him for the good that he did

I don't know what people are smoking but you should share. Hurd turned down offers at top programs to stay in state and help UTK. Then he had to run every play five yards deep due to the idiots running the spread with one of the best backs we ever had, and he still would have been the all time leading rusher had he stayed at UTK.
He is not one of the best backs we have ever had

Could have been had we ran a pro style, but no he isn't Webb, Garner, Lewis, Cobb or Simpson. Probably as good or better than anyone else in my lifetime

I am not saying he was bad at all...but the following were better backs:
Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens, Arian Foster, James Stewart, Johnnie Jones, Jay Graham, Reggie Cobb, Chuck Webb, Charlie Garner, Stanley Morgan, Tony Thompson, Alvin Kamara, George Cafego, Johnny Majors, Hank Lauricella

and i would argue backs like Montario Hardesty, Curt Watson, Cedric Houston, Rajon Neal, Aaron Hayden, John Kelly, Haskel Stanback are right there if they had gotten more carries

Arguments can be made for a lot but to say he was the "best back we ever had" was a stretch

I never want to see anybody get hurt. I've had/seen way too many injuries in my time. I hope he heals strong and has a long career.

I disagree with many of those you listed.

No one said he was the best back we ever had. I said no one ran harder. READ the post

That wasn't a reference to your post, but the original "best back we ever had" comment from other poster...i do agree Hurd was a hard runner...although i argue Travis Henry/Stephens were monsters too

Hurd is nowhere near our best back ever, but dammit if he didn't take a beating his freshman and sophomore seasons. A Majors or Fulmer coached team would have elevated him higher than his standing from running out of the spread
