Jalen ButtHurts not happy with QB competition anymore. (would Tennessee be interested?)

if he doesn't play in more than 4 games this year, he'd have two years of eligibility left. not that it should matter. but, 2 is more than 1. if he does transfer, he'll get a lot of looks.
Not doubting somebody takes him...just not us. He doesn’t improve us. And I wouldn’t count on Saban working with him to preserve his eligibility.

Uh...Didn't Tua draw first blood when he went home to Hawaii after season, and said if he hadn't played in NC game he would have transferred. Why no bad press on him. Why leave a 26-2 starter hanging when he wasn't the first to breach the subject.

If Hurts had been playing in our dumpster fire for two years, then this place would despise him.

If JG or KC had been playing for the best team in the nation for two years, then this place would be fawning all over them as winners.

I'd take him if available, but it wouldn't really make me believe he would win the job and hasten our rebuild.

JMHO.

In a sense.

Hes a very average "dont lose the game mananging QB". As long as all the other pieces are very good around him he ll win a lot of games. You force him to QB (which not everyone is able to do) and their chance to lose goes up dramatically.

Yet he was still 26-2. So...that means in 28 games only 2 teams figured out how to line up with him. So, now he's avereage. Like those were the first 2 good teams he had to face.

Good thing PM was not a good game manager. He'd have lost fewer games and become avereage.

oh, i agree. i think it's great that you can throw up his stats and all his QBR rankings etc.....and say "wow, how good must the next guy in line be at Bama if he's not good enough?", but as you said, he's playing on an NFL feeder team and that can make average look really, really good.

let him play QB at UT, i won't be close to the same, but probably better than what we've had. and that could be the case at a lot of schools.

he just doesn't pass the eye test in the pocket. athletically, he's a freak.

If you put PM or TM or CC in our roster currently, and the last few seasons...they'd suck toad teeets. It ain't just Hurts that benefitted from feeder teams. UT was one of the best feeders when we had our run of QB's.

They’re going to start the better player...and there’s a more than high possibility that’s Tua. Bad feelings, bad press...inconsequential.

He said that after the fact. So take it fwiw.

And? The only qb in your list that even compares to hurts is Martin, and Martin didn't get #'s like hurts has.

And he's still gonna get benched cause he's not good enough.

Yeah he’s far from a complete QB.

He’s got a better arm than Chryst and McBride, though. And he’s played in more meaningful games than any QB on our roster and shown the ability to make big plays with his legs and occasionally in the deep passing game.

Is he the guy I’d choose to build our offense around if I could steal any team’s starting QB? Hell no. Is he better and more proven than anything we have on campus now? Yeah.

I'd say if the 26-2 record, Alabama had more to do with 26 wins than hurts, and hurts had more to do with the 2 loses than Alabama did.

And if not for tua, they'd be 25-3. Lol

It wasn't about figuring out how to line up with him or figure him out but rather are you good enough to make them a passing team. Can you stop the run enough to put the game in his hands. Their defense plays a huge roll in that as well.

When (it hasn't been often because half his teams will be in the league one day ) hes forced to be a QB they struggled if not loss the game.

Hes proven he can manage on a team loaded with professional talent. That's all hes been asked to do.

He lost his job in the 2nd half of the NC game to an unproven, untested FR because he cant QB. Saban knew it from previous games against the handful of teams that can line up with them.

Is he a terrible QB? No.
Is he 26-2 here with more load on his shoulders with less talent around him to help? Far from it.

I don't really disagree with any of this. His job would be way more difficult here and I'm sure he'd see a drop off in production. That 26-2 is just as misleading as Chryst's 11-2 record because both of their teams didn't need them to win the vast majority of the games they played.

I still think he's better than the guys we have on campus at the moment. If JG gets the intangible stuff down maybe he'll he better eventually. Right now, though, Hurts is better than the guys we have. Might not be the case next year, but it's the case now.

Less a few gumps, who on this site should care?

I couldn't tell you what Chrysts W/L was at Standford before you posted it. It's no more relevant than Hurts at Bama.

He may be better, but that's speculation in its purest form with very different variables from school to school.

Their situations are definitely all very different and Hurts has had the best one for any of them to succeed. The fact that he never took a bigger step forward as a Sophomore definitely shows his limitations.

I still think he's better than what we have now, though.

That's fair. And he still might not be a very good fit for us going toward.

Exactly.
I think hes a very good football player. Just a very average QB.
THIS. His father, a good hs football coach in Texas, has convinced him that he is a great QB. He's hell or high water a QB or nothing. He is running into the age old problem where he is being confronted at Bama where talent AND drive get married, and his is found lacking talent at the QB position. He is an extremely talented football player. He is NOT a talented QB, others are and it showed in the NC game. He needs look no further than Tim Tebow to see an extremely talented football player who would have it no other way than to be a QB for his future career path.

I'm for it. Hurts is a veteran of two national championship games and would likely play his heart out vs Bama. And he's more talented than any qb we have I believe, though that is a debatable proposition.

I'd say if the 26-2 record, Alabama had more to do with 26 wins than hurts, and hurts had more to do with the 2 loses than Alabama did.

If Bo doesn’t get hurt in the Clemson loss he has two NC rings and 1 loss.
