NIL is still evolving and in its infancy. Tampering and other problems will continually arise until a governing body is established. I’m a smaller government guy but in a case like this if someone isn’t watching the hen house the wolfs will destroy it. The early desperation for money is a true sign you don’t believe in the future. I’m sorry but this is what big time college athletics has become.

Guy is a C minus football coach that always seems to find a too loyal for his own good head coach like Heupel or Mark Richt to leech onto.

THIS mass exodus has happened 2 years in a row, so that tells me who is the POSITION COACH.....hmmm, WILLIE MARTINEZ, and its obvious these kids must feel that either he is not developing them or they don't like playing for him because of the technique that he wants them to play

Or guys who likely won't make the NFL are making as much money as possible while the getting is good. Some guys are just more concerned about playing portal than football.

Don’t see his name on the official portal list. Most likely a negotiation ploy. If he is not happy with offer he could enter today. Spring portal will be used as a negotiation tactic.

Thomas is a safety and is coached by Banks

My take is different.
I see the good DBs trying to leverage more money because of our glaring need and lack of depth back there.
Last year's defensive backfield was patched together from the portal and some HS talent. They were our best position group in a long time.

The coaching staff didn't forget how to recruit the portal in 16 months.
This is a money issue, but mainly a roster limitation issue. We are seeing fallout from lost roster numbers, and we are calling it lack of coaching ability, portal recruiting, and NIL investment. Heupel and staff have decided to build young. It was a gamble and some of the team's upperclassmen are using the situation to get more NIL money. Some are unhappy, but not all of them.

We have 80 roster slots and everyone else has 85. That is a bigger problem than it sounds.

But they can’t just leave their team. They are under contract and can’t play for any other team unless they get a release

Neither on3 or 247 have him listed. They both have Charles and Slaughter listed. Must be ongoing negotiations, we will know by midnight tonight. Hope they can come to a reasonable deal. Don't believe UT is going to overpay him to stay. I noticed Leacock is back in the portal, leaving Purdue.

Not necissarily. The Universities have 48hours to submit the papers after they receive them from the player. So if he submits tonight, we wont know for sure until Monday.
I wont breath a sigh of releif from this stupid portal window until then.

I pray you’re not affiliated with the AD. I still remember the financial struggles of the AD about 10 years or so due to reduction in football revenues.

Recruiting budgets, maintenance of facilities, personnel outside of coaching staffs, ability to fund top coaching salaries, etc are just some of the things that will be impacted if football revenues drop due to poor performance. You think baseball revenues will cover the stadium construction costs? Hell no. Not even close. The 2022 Alabama win far exceeded the National Championship in baseball in terms of national publicity.

Sure. And the Corners were really good last year. While we're at it, they depend on Edges to get pressure, so let's blame Ekeler and Garner for the Safety play.

Just admit you didn't know Martinez doesn't coach Safeties and move on honestly, instead of coming back with that line of bull.
