Has anyone heard how Jacques is doing this spring?
Hadn't heard much on him.

Had six tackles in the scrimmage yesterday and already looks like he's spent three years in a college weight program.

He seems like a great kid as well. Good to hear he looks good against college players. The only time I saw him he was against Seantrel in the Army game.

He was a 5* on scout, but a 4* on Rivals. He should have been a 5* though. He's a great player, he's going to be great here.

Is J. Smith playing LB or DE...I think he fits Dooley's big LB profile; if he can hack it at LB.

I loved watching Jacques Smith play at Ooltewah, he's a beast. Can't wait to watch him play next season.

Hes a year ahead of Miller. Imo he will get some major pt at end. The guy looks like he is a rs soph or junior. I would assume 2nd team with either Martin or Williams. As for C. Miller I havent heard much.

Im excited for Smith.

agreed that he shouldve been a 5 star

Nah - shouldn't of been a 5* considering the other guys on the line that were ranked ahead of him. I got to see him a lot in person - he was definitely worthy of a high 4* - but the reason he was a 5* on scout for so long (eventually got bumped down to a 4*) is because he was so physically mature to start his senior year and they give out tons of 5*'s.

He was awesome in HS - but a watching Gerald Riggs Jr. in high school showed me how dominant a 5* really is. I think Jac might have had a better junior year because he was along side an awesome DT (would've been Div. I but was too short).

he is making progress as are all the early entry kids. they are adapting to scholl, knoxville and college football but they were in high school just 4 months ago. He whipped right tackle a couple tiimes last weekend in practice so appears to be making progress on the field... long way to go for all the freshman IMO

and yes, same answer I gave for Miller. They are both good size for high school kids and making progress. MIght help some this fall if they maintain desire..

Jacques is good but still very raw. Corey Miller is further along, and is going to be more of an impact this year.

Thanks for the feed back, sounds like Jacques and Corey have bright futures ahead of them.

We got to remember that no matter how good they were in high school, this is a huge step up. They are now competing against guys who also dominated in high school. JS had a tough go in the AA game so he knows it's a major step up. I think he and Miller will be really good as the years pass, but it's unrealistic to think either of them are going to be studs as freshmen.

Hes playing end right now but it is still a long way till August. Who was the last 250 lb linebacker to play at UT?

Didn't Al Wilson play just north of 250?? My memory might be a little foggy.....
