It's a new day for UT football. Jacques has tons of potential....let's give him a break and see if the new coaches can get him to play to his potential.

Good talent. Poor work ethic.

Seems to have worked pretty dang hard in the weight room seeing the UT weight records he has broken. He also managed to work in practice and get some PT his freshman year - he just has bad technique from what I saw (when he got the start in the bowl game).

breaking records in the weightroom has nothing to do with work ethic, he could have good genetics, i see it all the time, plus he ways almost 400lbs, and he maxed out at i think 565, thats 165lbs over his bodyweight, theres a number of guys on the team that does 165lbs over the bodyweight, there just a lot leaner. He has no work ethic, hes lazy and out of shape!

565? Try dump truck. McClendon set the UT bench record at 645 lbs:eek:hmy: last summer.

If they're going to primarily be running a zone blocking scheme, then the ideal o-lineman will be quicker and more athletic versus just huge. Sounds like McClendon is going to have to work on adjusting his body type to be successful in this scheme.

Good genetics without hard work doesn't get you to a 600 plus bench press. Strong is strong. And almost 400?

Reports were that he was running a high temperature and throwing up on Sunday and Monday. I wouldn't worry about Jacques, he'll be a starter in the fall.

He is not physical enough. He doesn't have a mean streak like Vlad does.

Kiffin plainly stated that our line would be physical, so this might be the reason he's not working with the first team right now. Maybe Mclendon needs to get a little meaner.

Guy who benches 635 and isn't physical, how does that happen? Jeez, if I had his strength I'd roll like a dump truck in a blown glass art museum.

Idk what you think you know about Jacques but you obviously know nothing if you're going to make a statement like that. This kid has a is definitely not lazy, has a great work ethic, and after talking to him a couple of days ago doesn't look out of shape at all for a D-1 linemen. So from now on don't take a ridiculous opinion on something you know nothing about and try to present it as a valid statement.

Remember the big guy that could kick anybody's ass but was just a big softie in high school?

That's how McClendon is.

I have no doubt McClendon will be a starter next season
