5* DT from the '09 class verbally committed to FSU

"First and foremost I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for allowing me this opportunity and privilege in my life. I am writing this statement to inform everybody of my choice as to where I will play college football. I plan on graduating from Madison County High School in Decemberr of 2008 and enrolling at Florida State University in January of 2009. The chance to attend Florida State and play football for the Seminoles has been a lifelong dream of mine since I was a kid. The recruiting process has been fun and informative at the same time. I appreciate all the schools and coaches that have shown interest in me, but in the end, I just felt more comfortable and trust the staff at Florida State University the best. I would like to thank my mom and family for being there for me and supporting me through this, as well as my coaches, teachers, and most importantly my teammates at Madison County High School. With the recruiting out of the way, now I can turn my focus totally on helping the Cowboys repeat as the Class 2A State Champions next season. After that, I can turn my focus on helping the Seminoles get back on top of college football and putting the fear back in the spear, where it belongs.”

I just got a copy of Jameel Owens recruitment letter and acceptance......

" first and foremost I would like to thank God and give all my glory to him. I would also like to thank all the schools who showed me love, and for those guys whom hosted me. I was involved in quite a fury of people texting and calling me, but found the weed at OU was just too perfect. We spent all night getting high, and it basically came down to how much better the BBQ is in Oklahoma vs. the BBQ in Eastern TN. I know west TN is famous for it, but I ain't driving all the way over there come on now. Next year I will be using my size for blazing and please don't be like misinforming that for ma blazing speed. I really wish that Gerald would come home, because he knew how to take care of me, but the law in Knoxville is just too dangerous towards football players. I mean I can actually get a PT-job and get paid thousands of dollars from a booster for just washing a car. Sounds like (cough cough) a good fit.
Peace"

Don't be such a square, you have to find the last month of recruiting and punishment and legal troubles for a solid top-tier athletic university, comical or else you would just be frustrated and stop giving your donations....

His ranking will most likely drop since he is only 6 feet tall and these ranking are very, very early.

But the rankings will change 4-5 times by next January when the final one comes out. I just think they will use that against him in the end.

I think you're right. I honestly think sometimes they just shake things up to generate interest. Guys plummeting and rising every 2 months doesn't make much sense to me.

Really bad. If he were to drop, it would probably be because of his early commitment. Everyone who has seen McDaniel says he dominates every OL lined up in front of him.
