So Austin Sanders has been here 4 years... shouldn't he be ready to play by now if Jack can't go in two weeks?

So either Jones and company can't evaluate SEC talent or they just aren't able to develop players efficiently. Ive never seen so many unproductive recruits.

Scheme should carry some of the blame. From the hs video I watched, most of these guys aren't used to coming off their blocks. I'm an admitted idiot when it comes to football x's and o's, but it looks like they are coached to steer and avoid a hold.

Dude, he's a Dooley OL recruit? Are you ****ing crazy? Can't play at this level.

Jones will be back. Vols problem is they don't have more Jack Jones.

Haven't paid much attention to OL recruiting huh?

Ok well lets take a look at the least improved position since Jones and Mahoney have been here. Wheres Austin Sanders, how about Drew Richmond, Mosley? Brett Kendrick couldn't beat Richmond out in camp, now hes starting? Id say the biggest strength would be Jones and Hall but they look slower than they did last year. So what is it, development? Mahoney needs to be let go at seasons end.

Sanders was a Dooley recruit who stayed with Vols when CBJ was hired. CBJ had short time to recruit that first year and needed olinemen desperately since Dooley had taken none the year before. Not sure CBJ would have taken Sanders in a full recruiting cycle. Sanders is VFL though. I wish he would have worked out. He still has another year as I think he is a red shirt junior.

He is. Why he was not on the starting 5 after pre season camp is beyond me. This guy is a gritty monster.

Same reason we didn't bench Worley vs FLA two years ago and put in Dobbs that would have created another dimension FLA wasn't prepared for. S T U B B O R N E S S.

Last years recruiting class was much better than previous classes, but we have had several misses in previous years (Blair, Raulerson, Mosley). With only 85 scholarships you just cannot miss on olinemen and expect to compete for titles. Ideally linemen should not start until their red shirt sophomore year with two years in strength and conditioning program.
CBJ and Mahoney have paid the consequences of Dooley's poor recruiting and their own misses. They also lost young man from Coalfield who quit football after his mother passed away. We desperately need 4 home run online recruits this year. It will make or break CBJ's future at UT.
