I hate the force out rule. What are the defenders supposed to do, just stand there and watch the receiver catch it? Silly

The Force Out rule, wonder why the NFL started that rule? Usually with the NFL there is an "Action then a Reaction" kind of thing. For example, In the 2003(?)AFC championship game the Pats DBs and LBs just mugged the Colts WRs and TEs. Thus, the NFL making the 5 yd contact rule. :unsure:

They did eventually show him from earlier in the play running across the back of the endzone, in bounds the whole time, before eventually standing on the tips of his feet with his heels in the air before making the catch.

The camera was from the front, and didn't give a good angle. Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I thought the goal post cam showed him OB before he left the ground. It was certainly the best view of the play, although it was not shown again from the beginning on TV.

If he was out, it was awfully close, and would be next to impossible to overturn due to the dreaded inconclusive evidence clause.

i was just glad to see caldwell make two HUGE drops.

they had a good point on PTI today....had that been Givens, pats likely win..............couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch.

In the 2001 game in Gainesville that we won 34-32 and Gaffney had a chance to catch the tying two point conversion, but had to give one of our DBs a piggy back ride through the endzone made me feel a little better about the "catch" in 2000.

Oh yeah... I forgot about that. Still doesn't seem like Gaffney's karma has evened out yet, though.

If memory serves me right, Gaffney missed that 2-point conversion because he was facing the official and motioning for a flag while the ball was sailing toward him. I only consider that payback for him pushing over a South Carolina DB in the end zone earlier that year and catching a Grossman skyball for a touchdown...with no flag.

While we are discussing UF WRs and last nights game, ESPN is reporting that the Patriots will be representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. Al Mathews reviewed the pass thrown to Reche Caldwell in the endzone and has determined that it was a TD and awarded the Patriots with a victory over the Colts and a berth in the Super Bowl.
