I haven't read anything suggesting that Payton knew about the bounties. I did read that he was suspended because he was the head coach while it was going on.

He says he knew but didn't actually "participate" in the actual pool they had..Then denied it to Goodell..AFTER being advised that bounties were illegal..And BTW, Payton is suspended for the 2012 season, Williams is BANNED indefinitely..IMO Sounds like Williams will be out of coaching for a LONG time..

I coach middle school football and I've given my players $5 for interceptions, $2 dollars for sacks, and $1 a tackle am I wrong for that?????? I don't believe so because I don't tell my players to go out and intentionally hurt other kids. Do NFL teams tell players to go out and hurt other players? Its a toss up, I'm not in the meeting or locker room like 99% of fans aren't, so I can't say. We just spectulate on the situation.

Better check the rules again..Illegal at any amateur level to pay players for ANYTHING involving performance on the field and if you're caught, major trouble for all involved..Better report it before it's found out..the punishment might be less severe...

That is what I was trying to say. I wasn't trying to be a jerk but obviously for some small coke and candy bar money could ruin some potential careers of kids once they get older. Amateurs are amateurs regardless of age.
