As I said in another thread you may see schools spending money on QBs with experience rather than paying them $2million to sit. Spend money on freshman that can play day 1 positions.

Even if Joey were to win the Heisman, I don't really know how high he gets drafted as a guy that will be 25 shortly after the draft and whose athletic profile is a far cry from being elite. He probably compares favorably to Dillon Gabriel athletically, who was a 3rd rounder. If he gets graded that highly, he should go. If he is graded as a 5th rounder or later, he will likely make more money coming back to TN for another year.

It's not about "rather". It's about his eligibility is done after this year.

I know some folks are sure there is no way - but until the NCAA addresses the JUCO question either directly or via a lawsuit - anything could happen.

I have no problem if he decides to attempt to gain another year and I have no problem if he decides the time is right to move to the next level.

But I don't get those that feel him staying would not be good for the team. To me it is just the idea that the backup QB is always better syndrome.

OU let Dillon Gabriel go to Oregon in order to keep Jackson Arnold. Arnold had a terrible year and transferred to Auburn. Gabriel finished 3rd in the voting for the Heisman and is starting for the Cleveland Browns this year. Arnold is still struggling at Auburn.

OU could still have gotten Mateer this year after Gabriel left, so worrying about who comes next isn't the best way to go.

Lesson for me: Keep the guy who has proven it and let the others go if they want to go. Worry about the next year when it gets here.

Thankful to have JA! But I don’t want him back because it’s not good for college football.

It will limit opportunities for high school kids. Jr college is still college. Most people finish their degree in 5 years. Also, if or should I say when, they start considering the players employs and it’s treated like a job, will they be able to play indefinitely? I mean, I can’t think of a job in the world that you can only work at for 5 years and then you can’t work that job anymore. I know that sounds crazy but I could see something like this happening. I believe this Pavia lawsuit is leading to just that.

Fair perspective. I think it’ll be fine. Personally I want JA back if he’s eligible.
