This guy applied May 28 for immediate eligibility to play at Georgia, and it has been granted.Cade Mays applied in January and has heard nothing official.Joey Gatewood applied for eliigibility at Kentucky in DECEMBER,2019,and has heard nothing.Methinks the Ncaa has a large case of peach-between-the-cheeks.Let these guys be immediately eligible to play, and, give all players a one time pass to transfer to another school without having to go to the throne of the ncaa.Go Vols, and Georgia has fuzzy little peaches in their supporters.Like Peyton said, "I'm not wearing red and white ever".

I just posted this in the Cade Mays thread, but I read today that Jan 8th was the date Cade announced the transfer. However, Tennessee only recently applied for the waiver.

I'm sure that had to be some strategy to waiting to apply. Interesting.

Josh Ward talked about Cade on his podcast a few weeks ago. Pruitt and Co didn't apply for the waiver until after the NCAA decided to shelf the 1x transfer rule decision until next year.

That decision was made by the AA on May 20, 2020. So either the AA has a peach in its butt, or Cade's decision will happen soon.

That makes more sense. More than delaying moves with Solomon ever did.

Thank you for clearing that up before I posted something stupid about QB's @ certain schools getting moved to the front of the line in these decisions. It is true, to make an intelligent argument, you need the facts first.

I think the NCAA made such quick decision so that the GA fan base can have a longer feeding frenzy about Daniel versus Newman.....or give Newman a chance to transfer again.

The NCAA says it's for the players and yet when they fine the schools and pose restrictions on schools they keep the money and it's all politics. If they were truly for the student athletes then the money from fines they hand out would go back to the players not their pockets. This union is just like others, it's a scam and just here to make money and be in control of a billion dollar industry

Because our Athletic Department has been a consistent disaster since Dickey left in 2002. Fulmer is probably the best of the keystone cops which have run it since, but he is limited in his abilities to be an executive leader (evidenced by his collapse when Cut left).

I'm sure they are workin' like heck to get better, though........

Before I get blasted, I consider Fulmer to be a VFL, and the man would never pay for a meal or beer in my presence. Seems like a great guy. He just isn't a great administrative and executive mind.

I’ve been impressed and I don’t think your Cut point is applicable to his duties as AD. Not blasting you just dismissing your rationale.

Wow. A civil discussion on VN. Seems like we may be getting back to pre-COVID form! :)

I used the Cut timeline because that is when it seemed to me that Fulmer either lost interest, or was just overwhelmed with the task of rebuilding a coaching staff in the midst of our rivals significantly upgrading their own staffs.

Fulmer is a helluva recruiter, and had a good grasp of the game early in his career (until the early 2000s, IMHO). He never struck me, and still doesn't, as a great leader or administrator. He is a very good networker (see his recruiting prowess) and that will pay dividends in his current role. But when it comes to actually running the department, I would be surprised if he is all that well organized. I am not shocked at all that he let the Mays process slip.

I never doubted his leadership...shared your opinion on him as an administrator. That’s why I didn’t champion him for the AD job. I feel he’s proved me wrong. Don’t understand why they delayed applications in both the Solomon and Mays eligibility cases but I read that they like to present the whole case with i’s dotted and t’s crosses and it worked with Solomon.

We shall see. In any event, he's ours now. We brought him to the dance, so we may as well see how it goes!

BTW: ever consider changing your screenname? Maybe Lylena? :)

No. When I picked it, I understood the possibility of it going sideways. It doesn’t bother me. If it bugs others? That’s a bonus. 😎

I‘ll disagree because I’ve heard Cut compliment Phil by describing him as the most organized person he’s ever met. I think part of the reason why they worked so well together was that Cut wasn’t afraid to be the tough ass in the room, while Phil could be the “Player’s Coach”. After Cut left Phil was never able to recreate that Good Cop Bad Cop sort of relationship they had and I think that’s when we started missing out on doing the small things that snowballed into the big things.
Phil is a big picture guy who can raise money and that’s a big part of the AD. I’m pretty pleased so far.
