J Jennings Dismissed from UT

The dismissal of JJ has me totally disgusted. Perhaps there is more than the video in play, but to have Joke dismiss him with Currie out of the country is complete BS. A washed up interim that did an abysmal job coaching the Dline got his yabba dabba doo feelings hurt..... F him

I disagree with u how can u keep him on the team? He was way out of line bro..Damn one game left he couldve waited for the new staff..He havent been to the games nor practices..When the team was losing and looking crazy where was he? When Butch gets fired he show up?

1st of all I agree with Carl. dismissing him was a knee jerk reaction and it should've been used as a teachable moment, with appropriate punishment but using the N word like he did was offensive and inappropriate. This is a result of the culture the team has been in for quite a while. I feel so bad for JJ and I am so disappointed that the administration left this culture in place so long and he became a casualty of it. So many want to say they are grown men and have to face the consequences of their actions, but who influences their character more than anybody else at this stage in their lives??? If you say their coaches, you are correct.

The great majority of players on the team are high character kids that would never put on the poor display that we have seen from JJ this season, and not just that embarrassing Instagram rant. This staff sucks, but trying to blame the coaches for JJ's immaturity is ridiculous. JJ's actions indicate a complete lack of discipline in his formative years, and this staff has had to try to deal with it. And he didn't just use inappropriate language; he directed at the coaches. And we don't know what else may have happened prior to his rant. But you can't blame this staff for JJ's immaturity.

Neither is Fulmer, but the tradition of having criminals on the roster is continuing under Hoke. John Kelly's arrest would've scored us some Fulmer Cup points had it happened during the off-season, yet he's on Brady Hoke's roster. Jennings' rant wouldn't have rated a single Fulmer Cup point, but he's gone because he hurt some people's feelings and they felt disrespected.

When the coaches keep criminals on the team, but kick off players for legally disrespecting them, it just goes to show that to the coaches, it's all about the coaches. They don't care about the players. The coaches care only about themselves and their egos.

I guess I reserve the tag “criminal” for thieves, arsonists, rapists, murderers whatnot. Never been accused of being a Libertarian, but the Puritans would.

That makes no sense at all. John Kelly was suspended on Butch's watch, not Hoke's, and Kelly is not a criminal. He was charged with a misdemeanor on the scene and released. OTOH, JJ, an upperclassman and supposedly a team leader although he has never acted like a team leader, cursed out the coaches in a very public display, completely embarrassing the university. He has no one to blame but himself. If he has a mature bone in his body then maybe he will learn and grow from this.

Keep criminals on the team? Lol, you are aware JJ was arrested for MJ too right?
You are also aware he was involved in a theft and assualt a couple years ago? And he was allowed to stay on the team.

Everyone in this country has the right to freedom of speech.

Not necessarily I agree with how he did it but he simply gave his honest opinion on how he felt about UT’s current HC situation. Imagine playing for Butch who’s more than likely not kept promises or coached his players up to their potential level? Would you be frustrated too?

If you want to punish the kid, that’s totally understandable but to dismiss him after putting his heart & soul into this team over being frustrated, that’s where it’s ridiculous.

I mostly agree with your posts butchna but I disagree with your thinking on this subject.

Freedom of speech means that someone has the right to express themselves, though, not that they’re immune to the consequences based on how they chose to actually express themselves, afterwards.

Today's society is all about coddling this newer generation.. giving them a participation trophy.

JJ deserves to be on the team. He feels the way most of the players Do.. I will be there Saturday supporting the boys. But I wouldn't be surprised if Hoke has an unfriendly welcome by several fans.

Wouldn’t giving him a pass after he did something (and keeping him on the team just based on his athletic ability) be the same as coddling him in this case, though?

I agree with the ruling after seeing the video. kid is too immature to for college probably because he was a super hero in high school. Needs to go elsewhere and grow up. I even agree with what he said, but would never post on twitter. Self dismissal.

Not if there were conditions and requirements to be met in order to be reinstated. His actions cannot be ignored. I think the the fact that the comments were made about an interim lame duck set of coaches makes the situation a little different than if they'd been made against a legitimate staff.

If he is allowed to return our AD is a joke whose decisions could not be trusted because he second guesses himself. He supported the dismissal; he now has to stand by that dismissal or lose credibility.
