J Jennings Dismissed from UT

When someone makes a video like that, i feel pretty safe judging them without knowing them.

Dont know if the video is the result or reason for him being dismissed but t
either way, good call Currie.

Just like I read your message board posts and feel pretty safe judging you. It’s probably not fair, but let’s be jerks about it.

This generation communicates differently from others. He did something stupid. No one debates that. But there’s more to this story from the entire season than him not just playing against Vandy.

There is a chance that he will get reinstated with the new coach. He may have used some coarse language but can we stop bashing this kid for telling the truth.

If Currie signed off on his dismissal, then the new coach won't be bringing him back without Currie's OK, and that almost certainly won't happen. Would send a bad signal to the rest of the team. I hate to lose JJ, but no way Currie can allow him to be brought back.

After watching that video it is pretty clear that many have failed him but he only wants to talk about coaches. This of coarse after he doesn’t get his way. He deserves whatever he gets for it. I wrote him off when he refused to attend games and support his team. He is a punk!

When i make a profanity laced post, feel free to judge me all you want. You may disagree with my opinions, but at least i conduct myself like a decent human being.

I have children of "this generation " and they better hope i never hear them communicate in that manner. Its unacceptable and not very smart to brush it off as a generational thing.

Im sure there is more to the story. I am actual of the belief that the video was the result of him being dismissed.

Either way, im not siding with someone that presents themselves the way JJ did. Telling him its okay does nothing to help him.

yeah but I live in the wild. whats your excuse?

And all those Dooley haters giving him the business over shower discipline.

He got fired over losses. Just like Fulmer and Majors.

I cut my teeth as a Vol fan with Majors. Who was it that said losing 3 SEC games in a row gets you fired an TN? Back in 92 that was the standard. When did it change? Why did it change?

So, if one of them did, would you disown them and permanently banish them from your and all of the rest of your families lives? Would shunning be an acceptable level of punishment for that offense?

Or could you maybe think of some other form of punishment for one of your kids using bad language and questioning one of your bad decisions?

JJ just learned a hard life lesson. Now let' see what he makes of it.

In the real world, you can't publicly bite the hand that feeds you without consequence.

I understand he is frustrated about his football career and the outbound staff. That staff is still in charge minus their leader, but fact is they are in charge. If he would keep his mouth shut, he'd come back with a strong senior year and go to the draft.

No he's got a year of eligibility and what will be perceived as a character flaw. Ask Hurd how his career is going.

Kids make mistakes, but he got what he deserved.

When the money got ridiculous. Huge contracts and expensive buyouts.

Awful comparison. I would still own my children. I would fire an employee immediately. I would not willingly associate with someone that conducted themselves that way.

For a while. TO was a cancer to every organization he was a part of. He divided the locker rooms in Philly and in Dallas. I think teams will be careful going forward to keep someone like that off a team because of the damage they can do.

I think you'll find the former players of these teams singing a different tune. He was a media distraction, but otherwise a good teammate.

So your judgement of me is that you feel sorry for me, even though you dont know me? Interesting.

No need to feel sorry for me man, ive done incredibly well in life considering my childhood conditions.

And spare me the holier than thou crap. You can tell alot from a person by the way they present themselves. Hopefully JJ learns from it, but at current condition, its unacceptable.

Was it you that made the post about Roy Moore? Judging him without knowing him? Didnt people make judgements about CBJ without knowing him?

Ok, let's use your comparison. If you were fired for gross incompetence, you are saying the same thing should be done to your former employee that went online and said you were @#$&_$@&#_ incompetent?

You are assuming that said player was naming a quality that isn't attributable to the current coach verses one that said player liked with the current coach. Don't assume.

That said I am sure that all these players, all through life, are told how good they are, how they will be the next superstar .. blah ... blah .. blah. And I am sure that when it comes from a coach or mentor it also includes words like .. earning it, working hard, etc. The disagreement comes when a player believes they have worked hard, have earned it but another person has worked harder, earned it more and they are not the chosen one.

Another lesson in life - life is not always fair. You don't always get everything you thought you should get. Sometimes another person is just better than you or works harder than you or deserves it more. That is not dishonesty by anyone - that is just the nature of competition.

Truth is - new coach will have his own style. New coach will have his own vision of what he wants in a football player. New coach will recruit and extend offers to players that meet that criteria. Some of the players on the team will NOT meet that vision. Some players on this team will have to change their attitude to be in line with the new coach - or they will not play.

Both coaches have lied to their players. Pretty sure his comment of "honesty" still applies, even if he wasn't directly referring to Hoke.

I believe every word he said. He knew he would catch heat, but he didn't think it would cost him his status. He is obviously very passionate about Vol football and Vandy football.

Come on it's Vandy. When did Vandy ever matter? I want players passionate about the gumps not Vandy.

He should go to Ole Miss(There is a reason it's not Ole Mr., it's not very flattering.), Vandy is there cross rival, they play every year.

But judging a kid without knowing him is what we are talking bout right?

I work with these kids at another school. That’s why I am of the opinion there’s probably way more to it. I also understand the way they think and behave. You don’t throw them to the curb when they do something stupid. You try to make it a learning opportunity. No one is saying it’s okay. No one. But I am saying kicking him off the team as an interim coach who won’t be employed in five days was garbage and should not have happened.
