J Jennings Dismissed from UT

Let this sink in UT fans...
A kid was stripped of his scholarship for cussing out a coach, but those accused of sexual assault, DUI, and drugs were simply suspended. This just flat out bothers me on so many levels. 1. Hoke over-stepped, and Currie should have let the next coach decide. However, if you correlate the punishment of Jennings to the punishment received in the above instances, it worries me about what character is and will be on the hill. I love IT but priorities are out of line, athletically and morally.

Yikes thanks. He is way out of line. Did this one himself. Don't disagree with the point but the way it was presented is awful.

His feelings seems justified, his delivery needs work.

I figured UT had a School of Broadcasting.
If they don't they need to get one. If the do, the players need to go join.

1) this isn't JJ first screw up. He's been guilty of some of the above.
2) he hasn't been Prt of the program since he was hurt in the first game. How does he know much about these coaches
3) every rival recruiter will show that video to the parents saying "this will be your sons teammate at TN" if he's still on the team
4) good coaches won't work for a spinelsss administration.

The video that I've seen is really 2 videos in one. The 1st one that was "cut short" would have got him suspended. We he came back to add more to it, that's when he got dismissed.

These outbursts started with Butch. Now players have picked up his bad habits. Any time a person starts running their mouth, it shouldn't be a surprise there will be consequences. Pitch a fit and you get what you get.

Do we currently represent the team and the school in an official manner? Players do not run the team and the program. We do not know what else may have led to this decision besides JJ's disappearance for 10 weeks. Has he practiced? Is he medically cleared? Did the coaches ask him to request a medical redshirt, which would be denied if he played Saturday?

I would prefer him to support his teammates and do what is best for the program.

The funny thing is that if this team won the SEC East, JJ wouldn't be spouting all this "honesty" stuff. Butch would still have the job. And whatever nonsense goes behind closed doors... the media, the fans, etc.. wouldn't hear about it.

I understand JJ's frustration but to completely trash talk about current/past coaches on social media is unacceptable.

What's even worse is that this rant will completely kill our recruiting efforts. JJ wasn't just trash talking Butch, he was trash talking the current staff. What happens if the next coach wants to retain some current staff members? You think the other schools aren't gonna want to show other recruits? Will the next head coach retain whoever he had in mind now?

Well if you do, you probably wouldn't want JJ around. Because he obviously doesn't like them.

I think JJ is a good kid, but his actions on social media clearly could hurt this program if nothing was done. Kudos to Currie...honestly.

Goodbye troubled one. We don't need this attitude on the team.

The "attitude" is pervasive because the coaching staff has demonstrated itself to be what Jennings indelicately put it as being. It's why Venzell isn't here. Helm, Hurd, Wharton, Williams, etc. Guys who were starters or significant contributors bailing on Butch's program.

Antone freakin' Davis put it in a mature man's words, but the message is the same as that of Jennings's immature rant. Many have suffered in silence, some (like John Kelly) give little hints if you are/were astute enough to catch them (I wasn't), and Jennings is the first to really freak out. The root cause of this isn't Jennings's immaturity though. It's a staff that didn't protect these kids from the toxic environment that Jones created. This staff doesn't have the trust or respect of these kids.

Freak has us using stars instead of profanity, but Jennings did not say anything worse than many on this board have been saying. Peep hate on me because I spoke against that type of behavior. I just think it is the wrong thing for fans to do, because it incites a mutinous attitude among the players. The video shocked me because it is an act of mutiny against the current staff. Hoke might be a meathead, but he is the acting coach. It's his job to keep the players from going out of control. As much as I like Jennings, he should have known better.

Some key words...ACCUSED and DRUGS. JJ isn’t accused of verbally attacking coaches on social media...we have a video. And JJ was one of the “simply suspended” for DRUGS. Hard to see the victim through the smoke from his own lit fire.

He feels the same way everyone else did except with way more inside access and voiced his frustration just like everyone else has been doing. Why can't he do the same? I honestly don't understand.

He was on the team. He made a video. He’s not on the team. Sounds like a problem. He waits a week to “voice his frustration” and maybe it isn’t. He’s a stupid hothead. This is a life lesson.

I really don't see how it's a life lesson but that's how you feel I guess
