J Jennings Dismissed from UT

Man what the hell is going on. I'm sick of this sh**. I've been a Tennessee fan all my life. I can't believe this is happening anymore. We as a fan base deserve better.

Let me say this Jennings screwed up but the lines that you can and cannot cross have never been really clear with the leadership in the football program. It's sad but if Jennings was already likely to be an academic casualty what better way to make a statement that this crap won't be tolerated than to dismiss him.

I think there are probably a few people who are more deeply impacted than we the fan base.

Like, you know, the person who just got kicked out of college. And his parents. And his teammates. And the coach and AD who had to make what must've been a painful decision.

But yeah, let's focus on us, man. :good!:

I don't see a problem with the administration - Currie or Hoke here. Everyone bashing them because JJ was a baller and we haven't seen enough of that in a long time. I get that.

But...You don't know, (and neither do I) what other behavior contributed to this dismissal. Get a room full of self entitled prima donnas with the swell head, and let them be loose canons by popping off, there comes a time when it gets old. Examples on this team are abundant. John Kelly getting unsportsman after a touchdown - Mouthing off to an official - Gauldin double birding Bama - comes to lack of discipline, and lack of personal accountability for your actions. Was there any punishment for any of that? Some coaches would have had these guys running the stadium steps at 5:00 am, just to think about what they cost the team by those actions.
As much as I like JJ (and I listened to the rant) - he was out of line. Lord - why even go there. This staff has been fired already. Next season is a whole new paradigm. A new day is dawning, why roll around in the debris from this season.

Put the razor blade down. Basketball team won today. Turn that frown upside down.

Dismissed from the team doesn't imply he was kicked out of college. If he was kicked out of college - that probably is why he was dismissed from the team.

At Tennessee, its all about public perception. We have to be squeaky clean U that has an upstanding reputation. Winning means nothing.

You clearly weren't paying attention to all the headlines when Fulmer was here.

This ballclub was mostly in the News section instead of the Sports section, back then.

Why...you said it, lack of discipline!

Is there anything useful in this thread yet on details why or is everybody still just b$&@?!$g at each other?

True, fair enough. He may still be a student in good standing. Just no longer a football player, nor likely any longer on athletic scholarship.

We simply don't know.

Joe Mixon visciously hit a woman and was suspended. Jauan says what is on all of our minds and gets dismissed. Wow!!

I️ agree that JJ took it too far with his choice of words, but perhaps Currie should have got his Mai Tai sippin’ ass back to Knoxville to hear JJ’s complaints before allegedly signing off on this dismissal.

If this staff/admin allowed Jennings to remain on the team after not going to class since September, and decides to dismiss him for airing his grievances (however stupid it may have been), then we have a much larger problem at our University.

Do you want a coach that bases his decision to coach here based on one player?

Do you think a coach would want an AD that doesnt support his coaches?

I'd rather have the new coach involved in the decision since he would be the one that would have to deal with any APR impact that comes from this. That's all. Anyways, Happy Turkey Day.

I know one thing, I’ll be so damn glad when this football program gets a glimpse of fresh air.

It’s been nothing but constant negativy floating around this football team all season. And now this!?

Currie better have the right man in his pocket.

I don’t think I can handle another round of mediocrity.

Please let’s start winning again and stop being the laughing stock of the SEC.

This is ridiculous.... a coach who won't be here in just a few weeks is going to dismiss our best offensive player...... smh.... hopefully the new coaching staff will reinstate him....

I'm beginning to wonder if we will ever be good in football again.... there's now a generation that has never seen Tennessee win...
