Izod Indy series

Lol, OK. LMK when Sato finishes a race with his car intact.

What does this have to do with sato? I'm talking about how Indy just disregarded what was clearly a penalty at Fontana for Rahal. They didn't provide any reasoning for the lack of penalty, and Rahal won the race.

If Rahal does win the title, it better be more than race win of points, or its a joke. Then again given the string of laughable incidents over their recent history, it comes as no surprise.

Not watching live but hearing Wilson got hit with debris. Hoping all is good for Wilson.

In a coma, critical condition right now.

And if you wondered what kind of person Tony Stewart is:

@DaveFurst: The racing community is wonderful at coming together in these times. @TonyStewart donating his plane to get JW family to PA. #PrayForJustin

Just looked through. I got a picture of him this year.

Thoughts and prayers for the family...I watched the race and hoped it would turn out OK but it looked horrible at the time it happened...Awful news and a dark day for the sport..Newgarden had a great 2nd place finish but there certainly wasn't much celebrating going on...

Awful news about Justin Wilson. Just a sad thing to see. Makes it even harder when he has a family that he leaved behind.

Is there anything that can be done. outside of closing the cockpit, that could prevent something like this from happening?

Hard to say. I am on the record of having no issues with closed cockpits if made safe. I'm sure I'll be shouted at.

Regardless, the sport needs to learn from this in some way.

I agree that they need to learn from this but I'm just not sure how. The closed cockpits bring on a different set of concerns.

What a championship battle! Scott Dixon wins the race and the championship over JPM!

Major choke job by Penske yesterday. I was hoping that Rahal was going to have enough to take it but getting just straight punted by Tristan again didn't help things.

I get so sick of Chip Gannasi's whole "woe is me, it's an honor and amazing to beat Penske" underdog shtick. It's annoying and patronizing.

Also , double points for anything other than a 500 miler is stupid, but especially for the last race of the year.

I think it's pretty silly in general. It was dopey when F1 did it last year.

Did you enjoy the season?

I ❤️ Indycar.

Yes, I should have said I'm ok with it at 500 milers though I'm not in love with the idea personally. Manufactured drama is dumb, but it's here to stay I'm afraid. Thanks NASCAR.

It was a great season, but here we are again wondering if IndyCar is capable of building off this momentum going into next year.
