If Izzy has half the heart of Inky, he should contribute early and often. Welcome to the VolNation family, Izzy!!!

The infatuation with Stars on these recruiting boards has gotten amazingly ridiculous… Nobody signs a class of only 5 star athletes, nobody.

You're right about signing a class of only 5* but you don't win the SEC without talent and Tennessee is being out recruited.....and you don't have to count stars to see that.

Willis. You have no credibility here. Quit spewing your crap.

This is a solid pick up at a position in need.

interesting... I don't know how I feel about this... Did we strike out on bmoore? Or are we giving up on loften?

Lanier is a solid corner coverage guy. He is an inch shorter and maybe ten pounds lighter than Moore, but of the two, he may well be the surer contributor at cornerback next year. I'm good with this commitment.

do we always have to go here everytime someone commits? i doubt our coaches give a shiat how many stars the mostly incorrect media outlets of rivals and scout give. :loco:

He's a 4 star on rivals and I don't think ESPN has given him any stars because I don't think they ranked JUCO players.

Izauea Lanier - Yahoo! Sports.

Also, this more than likely means we probably won't be taking Orta, so I am happy.

Moore will be all Vol also, and that will give TN three stud Juco Defensive Players that can come in and contribute right away in Wilcox's D. Huge for next year!

Bingo. What frustrates me the most with my fellow Vol fans is that they cannot understand what "rebuilding" means and cannot see the forest for the trees. Success will be rebuilt one solid step (or class) at a time.

This class is not terrible. If it finishes in the top-20, fills needs and, most importantly, gets us close to a full roster of players, it will serve its purpose. Then, we go out and win a few more games next year, keep stability in the coaching staff and the program, and seek to improve the team again next year.

I promise you this. Maintainable success will not happen overnight.

Gotta be some red flags regarding him missing a flight for an official visit. Not a good way to get things started considering the problems we've had the last several seasons.

I don't think Auburn wanted him.

I'm not saying this isn't the case, but I love that Vols fans (not you, necessarily) whine about stars and offer lists, then when we steal a guy another SEC school is recruiting "they didn't want them".

There's no pleasing people.

In recruiting...that is correct, but winning cures all and pleases all.

He also canceled his trip to Florida to see the Vols. Boom!

Auburn cast him off their commit list and Ole Miss would not take his commitment. Then we take him. That is troublesome to me. It will be VERY interesting to see how he does in Knoxville, and will be very telling about how good our evaluations are versus other staffs.

I am not saying he sucks or anything, but these are the facts. He has decent size and good playing stats. His film is just OK. IMHO taking his commitment prolly means we know we are going to strike out on someone we wanted more. Just a guess here. I will wait and see on this one.

We couldn't play Dime Defense bc we didn't have enough DBs that could lineup. We got a couple of commitments that I think can really help out there. We could use some more. I went on my Star rant since as usual people whine about it. Lanier had an offer from Florida. I don't care if he was a 2* he can probably play.

Its not if he can play, its if he will help put the program at the level we want. After all look what conference the majority of the top recruiting classes are in.
