I've been a Vol since the sixties, late sixties. I've always supported the Vols and always tried to remember they are just college kids who chose to wear orange, I was no saint in the 70s or 80s and have a fairly liberal view of current laws and rules , but here goes!!

Danny Obrien, you are a selfish ass! Knowing that this team had such potential with only a few Sr leaders, you chose tho be a party boy. You failed your 3RD Drug test during this years teams extreme gauntlet of games.

No you weren't our most talented DTackle, but you were a good one who played like a 5th year SR should play. You were maybe our best run stuffer,

You got hurt, and I'm sorry for that, but, lets look at what your selfishness and dismissal caused.

It forced K Mac and S Tuttle(even more) to play many more downs than they needed to and the outcome, Both hurt for the season. Would they have been on the field if you were playing, who knows? But I do know that Tuttle was truly only supposed to see 20 or so snaps a game for the most part..

So before players break team rules, ( Dude you could smoke 24-7 in another 52 days) think about the team.. and what your selfish thinking does to the team...

He has an addiction problem and needs help. You shouldn't chastise someone for being selfish when they are involved with drugs. You can be pissed for initially trying them, but the guy is going to be ruined for the rest of his life unless he gets help.

But he could get pumped full of legal bs drugs and it would be alright. Or go drinking, but can't blame everyones injury on him, thats the s & c coaches problem

Truth. The way teams/the NCAA handle drug use is awful. They shouldn't kick kids off of teams when they test positive even for things like coke. They should have them in mandatory weekly rehab sessions and monitor performance. Even if they test positive they should still be able to play. but if they don't show marked improvement, then shoukd consider their removal.

On the other hand, if they are performance enhancing drugs, then they should be removed from the team. The insane part of this is they only get suspended and are allowed to transfer to other schools.

It is simply the perception of the addict that has things the way they are right now. People need to realize addicts are not homelesss gutter trash, they are functioning people that just need help.

Exactly, smoking pot is a choice ffs. Not physically or mentally addictive. Nicotine on the other hand...

It is and it isn't. You can be addicted to the, but the effects of the addiction are minimal, and it is also difficult to become addicted. You can also be afficted to caffeine, pornography, sports, volnation, anything that activates the pleasure pathway of the brain that is gen exploited over and over.

To be a premier team in the S.E.C. leaves a team with little margin for error. Injuries in key positions, off the field issues that cause suspensions, poor coaching, all can contribute to one of more losses for the season that can kill a teams goal of having an exceptional season.
IF we had encountered no injuries this season or any dismissals, we would have beaten A & M and also USC. We would have lost to "O" Bama twice in the same season and gone to the Citrus Bowl.

I can see that it is a crutch and probably hard for some people to stop. Especially if the person using might be using the pot to self medicate an anxiety issue. I was just referring to the lack of withdrawal issues as opposed to say benzos, alcohol, narcotics...you get the pic I'm sure.

WUT? I don't know anyone who has had their lives ruined by pot unless the cops caught them with a few pounds in the trunk. That would certainly do it. :eek:lol:

Please show me these strung out pot heads you refer to.

Danny I Brian just got kicked off the team after his third time testing positive. If he wanted to stop after the first or second time, he would have. Kid had NFL potential, but blew it all on just wanting to smoke weed (no pun intended).

Those are signs of addiction. Pot ruined his career as a professional football player.

In tests determining addictiveness, that is the potential to cause cravings and repeated seeking, THC is down there. But again, even things that are not drugs can cause addiction.

Lol no, but I was reading some posts earlier yesterday on a political forum where a guy was posting while in a board meeting. That is interrupting his life and his career, two criteria of addiction, addiction behaviors. Addictions are very common. For instance I have to have cadffien in the morning or I cannot function. Regardless, I'd say a lot of us are addicted in some way to browsing the internet. I dare you to try to not look at your phone/internet for one full day. Good luck.

It was his lack of self discipline...not some overarching physical need to get high.
