I've legitimately lost interest in the sport in general over officiating, and not just because of the Vols. Every week I'm watching different teams get majorly hosed and it always benefits the top teams. I know games aren't fixed but when it feels that way it makes it hard to care. Some may just be sucky rules but it's not like they're going to change anything.
It’s what happens when incompetent people are put in a position of power. It’s not only sports…….

CFB is no longer an amateur sport. Simply synonymous with minor league baseball and NBA G-league. It’s no longer pure. It’s no longer compelling. It’s no longer fun. We’ll keep watching like sheep though because we love CFB and I guess it’s better to have this tainted and corrupt game than no game at all

Pro wrestling referees are a a part of dictating the action in the ring and also when it’s time to bring the match to an end..
Instead of the Montreal screw job, this was the Nashville screw job. Vince McMahon better get his hand outta Vols football and just stick to XFL!

I've gotten further and further into only watching Tennessee. I'll only be watching Tennessee next year. The game doesn't matter. Same playoff teams with one or two extras sprinkled in every now and then to show how "fair" things are. Meaningless bowl games. Machinery in place to keep the rich richer. It's all ridiculous and pointless.

I’ve seen way too many games pro and college with refs basically swinging momentum or making a controversial call to not think something is up this year. Best guess I have is sports betting has became big enough you have to control games and places avoid huge losses. I’m sure Vegas won huge on Purdue winning.

I used to be pretty good at money line picks. Now I simply stay over/unders or player props.

I hate conspiracy theories, but I really am beginning to believe that gambling money has touched the NCAA through officiating. At the very least, the NCAA should begin to use their dollars to create professional officials for football and basketball. I’m not sure if that would fix it but it would do away with sheer incompetence in these guys.

Bernard Malamud, the author who wrote "The Natural",also wrote "the Fix(er)".It's about gambling and those who fix games don't go to players, they go to the control source-REFS.Easiest way to control a game-the yellow flag.Someone said about yesterday's game, one ref threw 10 flags on Tennessee.Wonder if he was the one to call the bogus foward progress on Wright's td?

You are correct and even the guys calling the game alluded to it clearly crossing before the whistle blew.

It got explained away by them saying the
linesman called forward progress stopped.

My question is this: if progress was stopped when the official thought it was then why the hell WASNT the whistle blowing???

It was a BS call.
The dweeb ref anticipated instead of letting it play out. Like the ump who sees the ball beat the runner home and calls the runner out instead of watching it play out.

Along with certain teams playing by their own rules it appears that college football is on the same level of WWE now. Entertaining but absolutely no credibility.

I have always said that a major news organization ( 60 Minutes or just the New York Times) should do an expose on what goes on in SEC football. Tennessee is about to be penalized for doing the exact same things other SEC teams are doing.
