Offer the Tennessee HC job to Chris Petersen. Before you say he'd never take the job, ask yourself why not.

His defense will have already been in place for two years so he wouldn't have to worry about that side of the ball but I'm sure he'd want to bring his DB coach with him. Shouldn't be a problem. That guy puts 2* DBs in the NFL on a regular basis.

Offensively, I'm sure he's confident in his own ability to get the job done. There isn't an offensive minded coach in America that wouldn't think he could succeed with our young talent.

He'd be starting with a brand new top of the line football facility, Kellen Moore is about to graduate, Boise has had a great run but they've peaked and could begin their decline soon if they haven't already.. He's only making $1.6 million a year so he'd be getting a nice raise and if Wilcox likes Tennessee enough to turn down Texas, he might like Tennessee enough to convince Petersen to join him on the hill so they can build the next elite SEC football program together... Coaching at Tennessee would probably be Petersen's best shot at winning a National Championship.

It kind of makes perfect sense doesn't it?

So we can get upset once a year, lose on a field goal or two(hey nothing changes), miss a BCS bowl and go to the Poinsettia bowl every year?

Although Boise seems to mess up in at least one game somewhere along the road, you cant ignore the fact that they have beaten almost every top 10 type opponent they have faced under Petersen. The guy is great coach. He inherited an already well stocked roster in terms of talent from back when Hawkins left, but he has continued that success and has done an even better job than Hawkins did during his time at Boise. Hawkins of course turned out to be a huge bust, but Petersen always seems to have Boise ready when they play the big boys. I would love to have him here.

I think it would definitely be an upgrade but I think he has made it clear he likes it in Boise and doesn't want to leave. Everyone is not motivated by money, especially if they feel like they have plenty already and like where they are.

We are not getting rid of Dooley this year.

That being said...yes, if we needed a coach he would be an obvious pick for the reasons you stated. He makes alot more sense than any of the other coaches thats names are floating around this week

He'll never take the job....Good chance he is UCLA's new coach.....See they understand you have to open up the pocket book to attract top coaches :salute:

Peterson was approached in 2008 and wasn't interested in the job.
Why would he be interested now?

Yeah, Peterson has turned down so many offers. People have wanted him for years. If he leaves Boise I don't see it being for the money.

I think he wants to stay on the left coast. He has spent most of his life and coaching career out west. My guess is he winds up at UCLA.

This and every other fire dooley thread after 2 years and from people that are butt hurt from the ky loss is embarrassing...embarrassing. how is it that the most ignorant people are always the loudest at times like this?...kind of reminds me of America today.

I like this scenario but I don't think UT is offering this year. I am not sure Peterson will leave Boise for UT or UCLA.

Beating one good team a year does not a good coach make.

You can't beat one slightly above average team a year, then walk through a middle school schedule, and expect to play with the big boys in january. it's just not fair to anyone else. and recently, they haven't even walked through their pansy schedule.

With the train wreck that CDD inherited, you should probably be thankful that he wants to stay. A coach of a successful program is probably not gonna want to step into the SEC with the situation "as is". Yes, you have some young talent, but so do many other SEC teams, most have more. (We played 15 freshmen this season, just as an example). If UT fired CDD right now, there is no amount of money that UT could pay that would bring in a new, quality HC. Dooley's the man for the current situation, IMHO.

Open the pocket book? They have the worst athletic facilities in the Pac 12.

We have a HC, don't see us hiring another. Oh, BTW, Peterson would never take the job.
