Other than the fact we do not actually know who was offered jobs and who were just contacted for jobs, I find nothing wrong or blatantly false about the article. Sorry!!! GBO

And as far as Ambles is concerned, IMO, pre madonna and I like Meline,Milton,Hunter,Dixon and Rogers fine, he can split if he needs to. He decommitted from UT, UT did not tell him to leave....SEE YA MA.. JMO>>>

I have always found Penningtons' writing immature and have avoided Mr.SEC altogether...he also kind of acts like a bully on Sports Source...he has a holier-than-thou attitude and would just assume mock EVERYONE as report any news about them. Mr. Pennington...I fart in your general direction.

Shock jock stuff. Fine, if that's your bag. I'd rather just have information rather than opinion which are like elbows and orifices. Everybody's got a few.

Agreed on the Nashville media. The Tennessean just links to KNS and the occasional opinion piece by Climer or Biddle. Nothing spectacular. I don't subscribe to it, but the stuff I read from the Chattanooga paper is very informative.

what did he say that's untrue

It's not the facts that I disagree with, it's his conclusions, opinions and speculation as to what they mean. I remember his take on hostessgate and to this point he has just been flat out wrong. Nothing has been proven outside the one visit and over a month after it broke he continued to believe there was more there to come out. His conclusions draw a much more negative picture than the facts necessarily support. They could support a more positive view as well. My guess is that he is trying to promote a tv show and launch a website and as such it's taking a more controversial position that might garner attention(good or bad, all publicity is good:). I have been getting a bit of a ckicken little feel from him from a while and do not agree with his opinion on the coaching search and hire. I take it for what it appears to be another person who believes that he needs to make waves for the publicity.., a la kiffy...,

Why does everyone think that media guys in Knoxville should only say good things -- all the time -- about UT??? It's not their job to only take one side or be a "friend of UT"....if they did they would be referred to as fans, not journalists.
The writers wouldn't be doing their job if they only took UTs side.

Funny thing is I dont believe Gruden and Lovie were ever really offered the jobs just asked if they were interested. If you are make 5 or 6 mil with the bears are you gonna leave for 3 or 4 mil to coach TN no you wont. Also if you are making 2 or 3 mil a year to host MNF are you gonna leave for 3 or 4 mil to coach the Vols NO. Those 2 were unrealistic.

Whittengham(SP sorry) may have been offered but I think he was hoping that Urban would retire and he would get the Fla job, this is just speculation on my part. Other than that we may have offered 1 or 2 other coaches, but one of the 3 best jobs in the country USC was turned down by as many as we were that is why they had to settle for CLK.

For the DC job only person we have actually offered is Steele who we may still get after NSD. Everyone else is just speculation. The problem I see with alot of the coaches mentioned is this....... do you wanna coach in the pressure cooker that is the SEC, the toughest conf in football or do you wanna stay and make a name for yourself where you are and have a easier road to your mega millions.

Good points. I still believe there were other options, Leach, Malzahn, etc. Cutcliffe could have been hired if they would have agreed to allow him to bring his staff.

Leach had baggage, no way Hammy was going there. Not sure if Malzahan leaves, he's basically the head coach at Aubie now with great talent coming in. And please, I would have kept Kippy before bringing back a blast from the past. We needed to move forward.

Cutcliffe was not told he couldn't bring his staff. Cut wanted a job offer that thurs night andhamilton wasn't ready to offer it yet. Cut pulled his name then. Leach? Really? Are you serious? From a controversial coach who just left a program in disarray (x) to a controversial coach known for questionable judgment? A coach who let a 19 yr old brat punch his buttons and get him fired? A coach who placed his ego above the good of his program? A coach who is suing his last university? Let's go ahead and mark another "more experienced candidate" off the list. Please..,.

If Cutcliffe would have been hired, fan apathy would have been driven so far in the ditch, it would have emerged in China.

The majority of fans don't want Fulmer 2.0.
