Derek Dooley is gone.

Let's let the negativity and absurdity die with his departure. For some of our fans to get on twitter, or a blog, or a message board and bash a 17-18 year old kid for making a decision that affects the rest of his life is crazy and embarrassing. How do you not see by doing that you 1. Embarrass yourself 2. Show NO class what so ever 3. Bring more negativity to OUR program and fanbase.

I wanted Vonn Bell and the rest of our prospective athletes as much as anyone else trust me. And yes I'm mad as hell that we didn't get ALL of them. However, to go on twitter, or to sit on here and attack or say something to the effect of, "I will not wish this kid well and hope he never has success" simply b/c your feelings are hurt is about as immature and classless as it gets.

WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT. PERIOD. That crap needs to end now. Whether you choose to believe it or not, kids do talk about things like that to one another. I'm not sitting here saying a kid will choose to go to school b/c some crazy fan said this or that. I'm saying why bring more negativity to the program we all love and are passionate about?!? It makes no sense.

Let's get behind CBJ and become a positive selling point for he and his staff to use for the next 20 years instead of reliving the Dooley era of negativity and despair.

I can't wait to see what CBJ and company have to say tomorrow morning in Memphis. Proud of our staff for the effort they put in and what they were able to accomplish in such a short period of time.

P.S. I'll also add that the Skeeters, BigAL, MZTerry of Volnation are what make this site work... There was NO WAY to predict what Vonn Bell was going to do today. NO WAY. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. People offer what they believe to be true, so don't run them off or get all pissed off simply b/c a kid changed his mind or they gave information based off of what they were told by someone who is close to the situation. Things change. It happens that's just life. Some people on this site and in our fanbase I pray learn this or can see how their actions affect our program in a negative way and will stop.

These "strawberries and champagne" fans need to get off their high-horses. When people are negative, mad, angry, hurt, demolished, feel betrayed (Lawson and Bell) and go out of their way to show it, that is a GOOD thing! It means we care about and love our beloved alma mater. If we didnt show disappointment or anger or frustration, Id think something was wrong with that fan. Now, Ive never trashed a recruit on twitter..Im not that childish. But, I will condemn anybody wishing those backstabbers the best of luck, sorry. Screw em.

I am proud we got who we have signed! We have several unproven SEC coaches here and I'm not sure what the fans expected. I figured around 30th in rankings! So I was pleased to see we did better, but to bash a 17-18 year old kid is wrong. I would never bash a kid who didn't want to be here nor would I have wanted him anyway!

I will hold off judgement until NSD 2014.

Also, VolNation will always overreact... therefore, VN will never grow up.

Did I say you or anyone else should be happy with the shape of our program? No. Far from it, but there's a mature and positive way to go about it. Negativity is like a snowball rolling down a hill... Once it starts, it tends to get bigger.

Rally behind coach Jones and his staff. There will be tough times in this first year especially. He will do his job and get us a solid class in 2014, but instead of throwing a tantrum on the internet, let's show support and get kids excited to come and be apart of rebuilding one of the greatest programs in the history of college football!

We are all fans of a top 10 program of all-time! Call it being spoiled or whatever. When you root for a school like UT, you should know the demand levels are going to be extremely high. If you want the "tulips and rainbow" mentality, maybe you softies should root for a program like Rutgers, Iowa St or or UConn. You say most of us need to grow up eh?? I say you need to MAN UP..how bout dem apples?

we basically have been the SEC door mat for the past few season's. I am more mad at Hart for Failing in the coaching Hire and we damned sure could have hired better recruiting assistant coaches!

I agree bro, Hart didnt land the big name coach we desperately needed. That is NOT a knock on CJB...he has my respect and hope to god hes the answer. But, not getting Gruden really set the tone for this meltdown today. That was the beginning of the end in my book. That would have been the turn of the tide for this program. We'd be Bama part 2 right about now.

supporting this staff and program is tacit approval for the pile of crap foisted on us by the administration. Screw that. Ambivalence is the best policy.

I'm pulling Hard for Butch, but it will take a hell of alot more to win here than any where he has ever been! I just hope he don't get smacked around and embarrass us in the Sec!

"Man[ning] up" is acting like a prepubescent child and throwing a tantrum?

Like all ready stated, grow up.

I personally would rather people just keep to themselves (i.e. not go to games or get pissed off on a message board/twitter) than go on blast to the world by booing like madmen or threatening a teenager because of their decision; they make the program look even worse by doing that. :hi:

Where in the world did you get the idea Lawson betrayed us? That is ridiculous. From everything I saw and heard, he conducted himself with class and simply chose another school.. I feel proud when I see young men like Carl Lawson handle themselves the way they do and I like to think I've raised my boys to behave the same way..

Now if you want to be mad at Bell, well maybe I can agree with that one a little more. There is a fair amount of 'smoke' out there that leads one (me anyway) to believe he may have been playing the 'Gabe Wright' recruiting game.. I tend to think that ole Urbie was probably pulling the strings to.. I just don't like that man and don't believe anything he says.

I don't agree with personally attacking recruits, especially the ridiculous stuff like "they can cram it up their crap hole", "they can go to hell" or "hoping they have bad luck". It's OK to be mad, just try to be an adult about it. That being said, when you see recruits play this game of telling more than one coaching staff they are committed and coming to play for them and keeping the charade up right up till NSD... That is WRONG and makes the coaches already incredibly hard job of winning games, pleasing a fan base and keeping their jobs even harder.. Frankly, I don't necessarily think they should get a pass on it.. They ARE old enough to know better and old enough to suffer the consequences of such behavior.. Still, you can point these things out without adding to much venom I think...

Some people will complain no matter what. Honestly, with a complete overhaul of the coaching staff (save CJG) AND losing records in 4 of the last 5 years, we STILL landed a Top 25 class. Sure we missed on Bell, but we still got some top Offensive players to replace those that left early for the draft as well as some athletes for the Defensive side of the ball. 2014 recruits and their HS Coaches are already starting to take notice of CBJ and the new Vols staff. We're in great shape, some of you are just too immature to notice.
