it's ok

If we win a big game will you be ok? I think we will.

While winning a big game would be nice, I think we're a long way from being OK. We need to get back to where we win a lot of big games. I hate to agree with all of the naysayers, but this coaching staff has shown nothing that indicates they will be able to win a lot of big games.

reader the only thing that is going to make me happy is hart and jones fired. told you he was a garbage coach. I really can't figure out how you can't see it. look at not going for 2. he is an idiot. I would fire him tomorrow. there are better coaches on the high school level.

It's going to happen. I can see it in the team.

That's ok man. But I think we will win 8 this year as I said early on.

As a 52 year old, UT alum who has lived in Florida the past 26 years, this was heartbreaking for me today. Never in all my years have I had so much expectation to then be so severely disappointed. All the comments on this thread about the inept coaching staff, player management and "conservative" play calling is spot on. JMHO, there seems to be a total lack of willingness to do whatever is needed to win. I for one am hanging up my Vols hat until the administration steps up and makes some meaningful changes.

Mid-way through the 3rd quarter, I predicted we would repeat what we did in the 4th quarter against Oklahoma...and we did.

There's a saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing, over and over and expecting a different result. This coaching staff is insane and we need a change. I really wanted CBJ to be "The One." I now realize my hopes were fantasies.

My Twitter, Facebook, email and text messages are a grim reminder that most Gator fans are pricks, with a few notable exceptions.

Pray for me...This next week isn't going to be a good one for me in NE Florida. UGH!!!

I would say no chance at this point. I watched the game with a bunch of buckeye fans and I heard more than a few say jones was the worst coach they ever seen. right now I would have to agree. we have the talent, but the coaching is not there.

I didn't watch this particular game because I'm tired of the heartbreaking losses. I am a diehard Vols fan and work at Shands (UF's hospital), so imagine what I've got to look forward to this week. I still think the team will do good things this season. We are so close. I just hope it doesn't get the team down. I don't think kicking the extra was a big deal. There's no guarantee we would've gotten the extra points on the two points conversion. Plus, OT would've made it more heartbreaking and I didn't even watch this game. It just sucks. Football season has become a double edged sword. :(

I'm pissed like everyone else. I have backed Butch. My question is this.....Let's say we fire the coach and staff....Who are we getting? Like most of the time Volnation is quick to pull the trigger to fire a coach, but how has that worked over the last decade?

Enough said

I'm telling you it's going to be ok. I hurt too. But I can see what's happening.

I'm saying the same thing, plus adding in that the last 3 hires have been torture and we have gotten our 3rd or 4th choice. No reason to do that **** again.

we need a capable AD to pick the coach. hart isn't it. keeping jones around will only drag us down more years. regardless we will not win the sec for decades to come.

As the season plays out and we win games, big games (and I think we will) I will try and remember to not say I told you so.
But I know we're all hurting so i'll say to you like I say to my children. It'll be ok. And we will be great. It's gonna happen.

If you can get people to buy North Texas and Vandy as "big" games you might have it cornered.

Good luck.

Have your fun. Bash the staff and the team. But it's ok. We will be fine.

Who the h3ll is having fun? This is the definition of misery. Do you think a single poster thinks it is fun to lose the this dung pile of a Florida team in the fashion we did tonight.

We are a joke!!!

We are not a joke. We are a program on the rise. We are a program whose fan expectations have not been well managed. We are a program that is building a good foundation of great athletes who have to learn to close out big games. We have good coaches who have been incredible recruiters. We are not making that job easier with the hysterical online lynching they are facing tonight. We are markedly better than 3 years ago. We are better than last year. We will get better this season if we can move forward and rally from this devastating loss. We did not get blown out. We lost a heartbreaker to a hated rival on the road. So, vent if it makes you feel better and tomorrow lets get ready for Arkansas and the rest of the season.

just because you have talent, that does not mean we are on the rise.

Some of you guys really don’t get the point, do you? It is not the players on the team.
It is not the coordinators, and their play calling. It is the mind-set of the Head Coach.

When Butch went for the field-goal on 4th down from the 0ne foot line against Oklahoma,
he told both teams something.

To the Tennessee offense, he said “I really don’t think you guys, can score from this distance.”

To the Oklahoma defense, he said “I don’t believe my team, can beat your team in this situation. We are going to play it safe (play not to lose).”

Whether either team was actually aware of what they heard, doesn’t matter. When the fourth quarter came, they could, and we could not. Same thing happened tonight.

Butch is a great, organizer, motivator, and recruiter. But does not have a Killer Instinct and cannot instill it into the team. He could very easily, end up like Mark Richt, with a successful program and a frustrated fan base.

When you are ahead and have the opportunity to score, or just suck the life from the other team, you play as if you are behind and must score.

Richard Petty (Stock Car Racing legend) was ask how he won so many races, he answered “When something happened on the track and everyone else let up on the accelerator ‘just a little bit’ I pushed down ‘just a little bit’” He had some spectacular crashes, but he won over 200 races. He had that killer instinct.

Notre Dame football coach Ara Parseghian played Michigan State in 1966. Notre Dame was ranked #1, Michigan State #2. Notre Dame had the ball with a little over a minute left in the game and the score was tied 10 – 10. Parseghian elected to run the clock out, not trying to win, but settling for the tie. He coached for several more years, won a lot of games, even another National Championship, but carries that black mark to this day. He did not have that Killer Instinct.

If the Coaches have one overriding game strategy (that of beating the other team into the ground halfway through the game, so they know they cannot win or even come back late in the game.), then all their decisions will be based on that strategy.

If they are playing not to lose, then their strategy changes with the game, and their decisions get confusing as the game progresses, then the team cannot help, but to play down to the level, as dictated by the changing strategies, from the coaches.

Can you remember seeing a Florida team this bad? This should have been a 1995 Bama beat down and statement game.
