It's official

Never

It will first be blamed on the players. They aren't good enough or were busts

Then when that doesn't work they will blame the " negavols" who are the reason for everything wrong

Then they will blame God, cause he's a Bama fan

Then they will blame Fulmer

Then they will welcome the new coach as the next coming

So you're taking the next few years off? Knowing how everything turns out must suck sometimes.

Innovation is what propels everything in our world, even evolution itself.

Think this is Butch's goal, improve and evolve HIS offense through innovation. Debord has vast football knowledge and experience, and has been described as an innovator.

What do you guys think about him being our QB coach. Do you think it is risky? That was one of my concerns throughout the whole process. I'm really not as concerned about his ability to teach a system or call plays. Just his ability to develop quarterbacks. I noticed that he did coach quarterbacks at a small school years ago, so maybe he does know more about the fundamentals than I previously thought.

Honestly, I found that a concern. Brady saying that he did work with the QBs at UM, eases that a little.
In the end though, only time will tell.

Couldn't have said it any better although you did leave out blaming it on "precious"

The guy has Dooleyesque stats and people are calling him a world changer (talking about Debord). Sometimes, it is not difficult to predict how things will turn out. I will go on record and state my opinion (that is all it is) is that this is cronyism, nepotism, and rascalism.

How is 52-11 as a coordinator and won a NC yet he has dooley (who btw was never a coordinator before coming a HC) level stats? HC and OC are not the same either sure he wasn't a great HC at CMU but offense wasn't the issue there it was defense and luckily he won't touch that here.

He wouldn't have been my first choice either but don't say blatantly ignorant things is well ignorant.

edit: looks like several people already pointed out your statement

Please list these quotes.

You will notice him as one of several who can NEVER back up the garbage they spread on here. When cajoled into trying they will lay out a line of BS that very quickly falls apart under scrutiny. In large part this is due to their affinity to frenetically repeat anything that matches their general desire to attack the program. In a way, I suppose VN serves to give them an outlet because their opinions would have them publicly ridiculed anywhere but on an online forum.

So Debord was totally responsible for winning a " shared" National Championship?

The problem I have with people saying he won a NC is the logic is flawed. If using that logic you should agree CPF should've never been fired.

With that said I'm in no way burning a mattress or standing on a ledge. But at the same time I'm not 100% thrilled with this hire.

I get what you are saying about blindly following a coach but equating Jones to Dooley is just plain stupid.

Jones can do a million things right, but he still hasn't shown he can do the most important thing right. Until he proves that (and I'm not saying he won't or can't), the two coaches aren't that far off from each other.

It's not like you won't stop letting everyone know how awful he is gonna be...

Yes. Because I've said that somewhere. Oh, no wait I haven't. I've just stated this is a dull hire that doesn't look promising. When you look at other major programs (many in our own conference even) that were performing even better than we were that replaced coordinators compared to our change, it's appalling. But keep that blind faith going! It's done us so well for a decade now! I believe I believe! I believe! ALways I believe!

You are not setting the bar high enough.

My god. I sound like a sunshine pumper.
What has happened to me?

No sir. You are being treated like a sunshine pumper only because you are honest enough to admit - we don't know the outcome.

In these endless threads, the # of times I have seen "You Debord lovers" etc., as a retort for being honest, has been weird.

Yeah. I despise Brady, but that did ease my mind a little. He has worked with quarterbacks more than I previously thought, so I'm sure he knows quite a bit about it. Just keep a GA who has knowledge of quarterbacks so they can help him, and bring in Peyton whenever you can to help teach him more about the position. He'll be alright.

So, Butch should have swooped into the mess that Dooley left and immediately turned it around? I hardly think that is a fair expectation.
