Why do I just got a feeling all these reports are nothing but smoke and mirrors.....In my gut I think we are going to hit a homerun and land a name nobody is expecting or already is counting out. I'm sure I'm totally off, but I just can't see our program settling for some of the coaches mentioned. Only time will tell...Time to knock one out of the park. :yahoo:

I think you're part right. I think it's gonna be Kippy.

Why? 'Cause no one will leave their program less than 3 weeks before signing day.

Yeah, no offense, but I just don't care/trust whatever it is your gut is telling you...

I'll be excited if your gut is right though!

Well..I do recall Hamilton talking at length in an interview, back in the summer, about the search and hiring process involved last year. He mentioned that there was a good deal of deception involved to keep everyone in the dark....such as not taking the UT plane and such.

I suspect there is a little of that going on now.

That Les Miles is getting a strong look from Hamilton. He is looking for an out of LSU's unrealistic fanbase.

Every Coaching search in the last 2.5 years Pro or college as been an exercise in misdirection. I post and respond alot on the rampant speculation. But i am in a Waite and see mode.

This is probably some really BS info from a BS source, but I heard this for real, so here goes. A family friend's husband is on the UT hiring committee, and his word is that the salary being discussed for the next head coach is in the 6 million dollar range. That would lead one to believe that it's not going to be Calhoun, Dooley, Cutcliffe, etc.

Like I said, take that for what it's worth, which I'd admit is not a lot. I didn't want to make a thread about it because I'm not sure I believe it myself.

BS, would be highest paid coach in CFB. For that kind of money, it had better be Saban, Carrol, Gruden, Dungy, Stoops, Urban Meyer....and most of them would not be worth that much and would not even CONSIDER JOB. 6 Million, LOL!

I agree, Hamilton knows his job depends on this hire. All of these names that are being tossed around are just decoys imo. Something tells me vol fans will be happy when this is all said and done.:eek:k:

I know, and I agree. Only way we pay someone that much is if it's a former/current NFL coach, and I'm not ready to believe it. Although I did just read on CNNSI that we're believed to be gauging Lovie Smith's interest.

I don't know, whatever.

That would be cool if true. I just want to keep reminding people. Just because these coaches say they are not coming, doesn't mean that we even offered them the job. They are just responding to rumors. Doesn't mean they were offered. Hamilton didn't use the UT plane before. Why should we believe he will now? He knows people would be tracking. I truly believe the Muschamp deal might have been true, and that it just fell through, but all of this other stuff is BS. I personally think Jon Gruden and Lovie Smith are possibilities. I know, I'm probably just dreaming, but I truly believe the bigtime boosters are giving the needed money, and reminding him of the importance of this hire being a slam dunk.
