1. Per the CDC, about 500-700 women die from child birth complications in the US per year. You're overstating that risk

2. We aren't talking about "at birth", we are talking about an abortion. An abortion, kills another person, of whom has their own DNA. Who is affected more between a death vs a person who didnt die isn't an a difficult conclusion. I'm sorry it is for you.

Well that’s one way to look at it. Another is a lot of subtle nuances about it change not so subtly. They are still trying to get their arms around this thing. Examples. It doesn’t effect children. That changed after the first number of under 5’s died. Well it doesn’t effect young people. The biggest age group getting it in the south/southwest right now. 25/40 years old. It only kills old compromised people. 38% of deaths in US under 60 years old

But this isn't just about masks. They have shut down everything because of it. The desire to close down the entire country and the economy is unprecedented. Schools closed 2 months early and many districts are in danger of not reopening this year either. We've gone from 60k is acceptable to 120k means we shut it all down for 18mos (also a recommendation from those you quote).

Again, think bigger than simply arguing over a piece of cloth

Its because their hero Trump believes if he's seen in a mask he will look weak. They believe the same thing. They honestly believe they know more than people that dedicate their lives to diseases. They cant even think for themselves or use logic, they just do the same thing their hero does.

So what? We can both appeal to authority or personal incredulity. I don't need a physics or medical degree to tell me that a barrier that reduces the distance of spreading germs between my nose and your nose that will result in a reduction of transmission over distances.

The number of deaths under 18 is negligible (they actually counted a baby born a 22wks as a covid death). The hospitalizations of younger people are many times less than others. It does not kill the young or healthy in any appreciable numbers. If you have type 1 diabetes and are 300+ you might want to hunker down for a bit though

By and large, partisanship is driving many of the hostility towards anything suggesting that we aren't in a full blown economic recovery, @utvolpj is not one of them.

I believe people who solely concentrate on the disease have no knowledge of the bigger picture. There are serious economic implications for their recommendations that they will never take into account. Sure, closing down bars and restaurants sounds good when you're only worried about spread but it may not be the best solution

And I can assure you trump is not my hero
