It's Les Miles

I can like Les Miles without wanting him to be our new coach. My best guess is that "old School" Phil will hire him.
I liked that he coached for someone else in the SEC. He was entertaining and wasn't a jerk like Spurrier or Saban. I liked watching LSU when they had Miles. You were just waiting on him to do something totally stupid that even a middle school coach knows better than to do but usually catch a lucky break and still win the game. The last 30 seconds of Miles versus Dooley is must see TV. They tried to out-moron each other.

Who the hell do you think drove his firing home ? It was the Haslams. Now you think he is in bed with them?
Yep. He kissed the ring to get back into the athletic department. Haslam could either hire him or have him killed. He sabotaged the last two coaching hires, calling coaches, telling them not to take the job. It was easier just to put him on the payroll.

Ask LSU fans about his quarterback development successes....oh, and throw in game management and clock management questions as well.

Easy, they thought they had Tom Herman until Texas swooped in. They almost fired him the previous year when they thought they had Jimbo lined up as well.

Sure, and a portion of our fan base has believed for the last 5 years that we “had” Gruden. The point is, why were they looking?

Phil's choice will reduce to hiring an acceptable coach who is not a lot smarter than he is.

I don't like how you defend the hiring of Les Miles, probably the dumbest person to ever coach in the SEC. He makes Ed Orgeron look like a Rhodes Scholar. That makes you look like you care more about Fulmer than Tennessee. We have a name for that around here. Ha Ha

Miles would be great. I think getting fired may convince him to open up his offense, that's all he lacked at LSU. His teams always played great defense and hit extremely hard!

1. We can't hire a current coach due to the buyout. We squandered too much money on Schiano's MOU and firing Currie.

2. Both Davenport and Fulmer said they wanted someone with head coaching experience in the SEC.

It's Miles (unless Cutcliffe is back in play), and Les totally sucks. Get ready to be right back here in three years.

182 trollistic posts in 5 years. Adversity always brings your kind out of the woodwork. I've just found another one to block. Thanks for popping your head out of your shell.

Some of y’all are wasting your time. The guys record speaks for itself. And he had that record in the absolute toughest conference in America with most of those schools having all time greats during his tenure. People say he can’t coach because he frequently lost two games a year. TWO GAMES? Are you kidding me? Leach is good too but you should have noticed our admin doesn’t want him. They fired Currie with Leach on the hook, no PUN intended. But stop arguing about Miles. His resume is stellar. And he is percentage wise the winningest coach in the history of LSU over a long career. You don’t luck into that. These people would argue with a fence post. Just say you want Leach and leave it at that.

And Leach is better because he never loses two games a year in the toughest conference in America.

And whoever said people in Louisiana don’t like Les is completely wrong. I am there every year. He is a legend just like Fulmer is here. Almost identical careers. Prob why Fulmer likes him so much

Les comes in, signs a 3-4 year contract.
Tee Martin as OC, then when Les retires, Tee takes over as a smooth transition and begins a long career as HC of the Big Orange!!

Three coaching searches in a row, Tennessee has tried to find that "next great coach" or diamond in the rough. We see how that has worked out for us. I think its time to go the old school proven route. Yes, Les wasn't 12 and 0 every seson and only one National Championship (oh the horror), but good grief people, the man is light years ahead of the last three gentlemen we have employed. I think we have to give the man a chance.

You're 1,000% correct, i live in the Baton Rouge area and people still love him. Some wish he was still the coach, everyone wanted/thought they would get ether Jimbo Fisher or Tom Herman and ended up with O and was and steel not happy about that.

A blind man can see that is what’s gonna happen. And it makes perfect sense. Some folks just like to argue.

I will happily take Les Miles.........only reason why LSU fired him was because he couldn't beat Saban. Only two coaches that I can think of have been able to beat him more than once, Gus M. and Hugh Freeze.

Miles is a proven winner with Championships under his belt. I would take him in two seconds.
And at UT, he would have to beat Saban twice a year to get to any playoff scenario!
