so they're receiving gov't money and the gov't is placing requirements on what they must do to receive that money? Trying to figure out what I'm missing

It's paid volunteerism...not really sure how it is called volunteering. Receiving compensation for services through contractual obligations.

There is only one area that I could see being a problem. It mentioned that there could be no prosthelization. Would that mean that anyone who casually mentions to their friends in the program about their faith and talks to them about Christ or Allah or whoever might be in violation of this rule and lose membership or benefits from the membership? If so I believe this is wrong.

Does seem to infringe on first amendment rights doesn't it??

Why all the don'ts written into the law??

What is supposed to be the positive impact, what are they suppose to do??? Or is this a PC indoctrination course??

I think it important to note this isn't voluntary, it will be mandatory.

Are you using loans??

If so, you can blog us on your service.

I'm not using loans, so I don't expect it to affect me in that sense. But, I would imagine that this is one type of loan - which if you take, service would be mandatory. I'm pretty sure that student loans that do not have this service element (and that do not have the same types of tax breaks or loan easements as those tied to the volunteer-based-loans) will still exist.

if you think that the democratic party doesn't hates Christianity, this is just one of many many examples.

the fact is that the democratic party have become the party that hates traditional values. it's sad that so many sheep vote democrat.

i agree that Republicans shouldn't have voted for it. i'm sure no one read it. dems are only as powerful as those who oppose them.

actually, if you think about it. most people who volunteer for this, vote demcratic and how many democrats really attend church.
I'm a democrat and I go to church every Sunday:yes:

Good for you.

I'm not pretty sure of anything anymore, given the radical bent of this administration and the enabling characteristic of the democrat dominated houses, even if some democrat thinks he will be voted out of office by his constituents for voting for some hairball scheme, he knows the moneyed elite will take care of him in the future.

BTW, I'll bet a lot of posters/readers here don't know that when a senator or congressman is voted out of office it's not over for him, he can maintain offices in Washington at taxpayer expense.

One such man twenty years ago was billing the US government for $4 million a year for office space and staff and being paid.

William Proxmire used to award each year the "Golden Fleece Award" for dubious, if not outright insane spending. One year the award went to a group who got $880,000 to study whether gold fish were more aggressive on tequila or gin.

Another Golden Fleece Award went to the National Institute for Mental Health, which spent $97,000 to study, among other things, what went on in a Peruvian brothel. The researchers said they made repeated visits in the interests of accuracy.

Proxmire took advantage of the pay after being voted out of office clause and literally had his office in a broom closet with no staff for a while.

William Proxmire was the last real Democrat as far as I'm concerned, even if he was considered liberal.

He may have been Ivy League but at least he was blue dog.

Now that was humorous....

Laughter is the best medicine. :)

Sleep through a lot of sermons, huh? :p
