Decision making and egos ruined our program and attributing it to things like uniforms and breaking tradition is the height of stupidity.

You know why Alabama operates opposite from us? It is because that entire state is on board. When players are caught with guns, drugs, legal problems…you don’t hear much from the local press. Boosters and money men are all on the same page. The network of insiders is set. And although others disagree, I absolutely think it helps that the SEC is in Birmingham, near the heart of all things Bama, politics, and money.

The freaking uniforms they wear is nothing. Bama could trot out in Pink and have the same results.

If throwing on a black uniform once a year gets us closer to where we need to be, then so be it. It is the 21st century. We have social media, recruiting services, and transfer portals. Until we all get on the same page with all the peripheral resources Bama enjoys, this is what we have to do. And bedsides, traditions have to start somewhere, what in the heck is wrong with a black mode games once a year?

This is spot on. That entire state, government included, is involved in all things Bama. Its why Saban will never get busted for cheating.....he doesn't need to because they have plenty of officials handling that for him.

you realize Tennessee had black outline patterns…….right?

P-ST does all white…….it’s not their uniforms but it’s OK……because it’s “part” of their color?

Florida has done some crazy alt stuff……but again……part of their colors so it’s OK?

LSU…….color changing helmets……it’s OK?

Tennessee can’t wear black?………but black has been part of their uniform going back for a long time…….. not full black shirts……but “part” of it.


If you don’t like it that’s cool……..but don’t try to make out like Tennessee is somehow “lowly” for doing this.

Orange should have been the helmet and then we could wear that same helmet more than once and used them on the road a couple times a year.

We've been a corny gimmicky program for a decade plus. Were not respected anywhere anymore by anybody. Outside of the 865 area code were a joke. Why are we doubling down on being a lame corny program? Its the definition of insanity and we just pretend its cool or something. If we cant be honest about that without getting our feelings hurt and lying to ourselves then what are we doing. Besides hiring inferior coaching staffs and getting smoked in recruiting. Recruits dont care about alternate uniforms. They care about playing meaningful games and going to the nfl. Something we used to be before we settled for gimmick university. Examples- Bama, clemson, LSU etc. Southern Cal has been down for a long time but I haven't seen them roll out cartoon uniforms. Tradition is rare, gimmicks are the other 95% of schools.

A story…soooo, I’m in the car rider line at the kid’s school and I read the OP. So as soon as my kid hits the seat I say, “ did ya read about the new uniforms?” He said, “ what are you talking about?”

Let’s pause here…that was my way of asking if he’d been OPDS…on the phone during school. He had not or he lied , but I am inclined to believe him based on his reaction.

He loved the look, so, ya know, absent the winning, if it helps keep him into being Vol…so I bought one.

Several hours later, I get a text from a long time tailgate companion talking about how much he hates the entire new uniform.

I hate it but if takes that to get the item fired up enough to win I won't complain. I just like to think we're above the gimmick stuff started by Phil Knight and Oregon.

This is a weak take. The guys were certainly fired up to go on the road to a Missouri stadium that has whatever the opposite of "juice" is, no alternate unis there.

I don't understand why some people have to suck the fun and joy and happiness out of everything. Our guys clearly like the alternates, I am happy and joyous that they are happy and joyous.
