My anticipation for the season to start is as high as it has been since the 2005 season. With all the talk about the team being bigger and stronger has me very hopeful, then again they are very young. Three things I really want to see is how the O line has improved in the running game, how the line backers handle themselves and finally no Major mistakes from the coaches, ie. LSU and NCU games. Feel free to add your thoughts. GBO:loco:

While I agree there was a coaching mishap in the closing seconds of the LSU game, I'd submit that was not the case in the UNC game.......I get your point though.

I completely agree about the UNC game. The only coaching thing that pissed me off was Butch Davis taking advantage of that loophole which is now prevented by the "Tennessee Rule."

My biggest beef with that game, however, is that the ref called it over. NCAA rulebook blatantly states that when the ref deems it over, it's over. No one has any more jurisdiction over that game than they would if you or I ran out there and started calling penalties and plays.

No I won't let it go and yes I'm still bitter. :banghead2:

1. Our d's ability to stop the run.
2. Punt returns ability to A. Catch the freaking ball.
B. Maybe get a few yards?
3. Kicking 100% pat's and would like atleast 90% on fg's.
4. Keeping the right # of people on the field at all times.

I feel more adreneline pumping through my blood on a daily basis.

No one in my house is going to be able to stand me by game time!

I feel like a fat kid waitin' on the icecream truck!

Really,

1st: If and I say If the refs call the game correctly at LSU (NCAA says if the Offense substitutes than the Ref will stand over the ball until the defense has time to also sub) they would have stood over the ball and allowed the clock to run out, but instead LSU got another play. :dunno:

2nd: In the bowl game the (NCAA rules allow an offense to be flag with to many players on the field) NC was flag with to many players on the field. Game was over but it allowed NC to try a field goal without time on the clock with a 5 yard penalty. :dunno: RULE CHANGE so this doesn’t happen again. :good!:

I feel that neither was a coaches mistake

its over and gone but lets talk about coaching at the end of the NC game. I remember back in the Bowden Wyatt era and a game against Ga. Tech with two minutes till the half and Tenn was deep in their end. For three snaps, every orange jersey made one huge pile over the ball and they had to be removed one by one. It took the full two minutes for this to unfold and then the halftime gun!

There should have been half dozen orange jersies piled on that NC runner when he hit the ground on the next to last play and the ref should not have been allowed easy access to grab the ball so he could race over and ignore all rules and declare it in play.

Yes, there were lapses in coaching on that play!
