Clawson was Fulmer's downfall.
Sunseri was the nail in Dooley's coffin.
And the Scott, Canales, Shoop trifecta ended Jones' tenure. How overrated, overpaid, and terrible was Shoop by the way?

If you don't have really good assistants you cannot win in this league. Hell, you're almost better off with strong coordinators and more of an overseer as HC. Maybe Cutcliffe with Tee as OC and Chief as DC might work with a Gillespie or Graham type as recruiting coordinator.

Randy Sanders was Fulmer's downfall. Clawson was the nail in the coffin..

Scott was questionable from the very start. Butch thought he had done something when he got Shoop he had a good record coming in. We find out he needed somebody else to actually make his system work who that is we need to hire.

BS, OP. Butch owned that offense and it’s always been awful. Dobbs bailed him out for 2 years. Dormady and JG are not Dobbs, thus the worst season ever.

Explain Shoop then?
And DeBord was pretty good at running that "awful" offense, although his personnel was better.

I respect the Hell outta Chief as a former player, but I also remember too well how his two minute defense worked, many times with talent superior to his opponent. You really need to get treated for long term memory loss.

Man, based on the short-term memory of what I just witnessed this year, I would kill to be in the game in the last 2 minutes.

Shoop turned out worse than Sunseri.

At least Sunseri had a scheme change to a 3-4 to fall back on as an excuse.

Agreed about this being all Butch. There was something about the way he did business that was bad. It’s started coming out from former players and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear more. The guy seemed nice to us fans, but there was clearly something rotten inside his system and leadership.

WE CAN BLAME BUTCH BUT WHAT i SAW THE LAST TWO GAMES WITHOUT BUTCH SEEMED LIKE THE SAME OLE SAME OLE!

WE CAN'T DEFEND THE PASS, WE CAN'T SET THE EDGE, OR STOP ANYTHING UP THE MIDDLE.

DON'T WE HAVE ANYONE WHO CAN PLAY DEFENSE?

IF VANDERBILT FIRES THAT COACH WE SHOULD GO GET HIM!

Yes we can. He was the head coach who brought us to a historic all time low. Not Dooley, Kiffin, Fulmer or Butch's assistant. Just Butch.

and lol at Vandy coach comment... this guy must be a troll

the common denominator in the last 5 years has been coach jones. his system is terrible

You are so right. If people dont think it is then look at Memphis and their QB. Riley Ferguson he is tearing it up at Memphis. I would of liked to have the 30 something TDs he passed for this year. And didn't Nathian Petterman go to Pitt and do good there. Need to go to the pro style offense people. If not you got to have a QB like Tebow, Cam Newton, Deshawn Watson.

That would make it the Ad's fault. Why hire a coach who's system is flawed?

We are about to find out how good our new Ad is.:crossfingers:

If you check the Aggie board, they'd be more than willing to cut him loose. 'third & Chavis' anyone?

Pass on Chief. We need coaches that can out coach the other team not simply win because they have superior talent.

I say nobody wanted to work with Jones and that is why we got Scott.

Well said. It obviously starts with the top guy, a leader who can assemble and organize the right staff and set the right tone for them, the players and the program. But if he gets the wrong guys, starting with the S&C coach, your team and program is screwed.
