this is it for me, not saying that if Phil doesnt hit the home run Im going to quit be a fan (I'll be a vol fan for the rest of my life), but if Phil hires some whacked out old curmudgeon, I'll be the most negative poster this board has ever seen.

On the plus side, I think that Phil has put himself in a postion where he cannot hire Adkins as the OC. There would be a huge outcry at this point if he sacrificed Troop's recruiting ability just to promote Adkins. For some reason I feel more and more like it's going to be Kippy Brown. I just don't think Marrone would do it unless he gets a Jimbo Fisher-type deal in writing. I really don't think that one year as an OC in the NFL and one year as a head coach in the XFL qualifies as the type of experience in running an offense that makes it worth losing Trooper. I also doubt that Kippy will work very hard on the recruiting trail due to a couple of things, first he'll have Chavis' example to follow and second the guy has not had to do it in ages. In addition, it is my understanding that if Kippy comes the Vols will have to hire his brother.
