It Wasn't Targeting

We lost to UsC and Vandy because of a targeting call in the season opener called on a player that didnt play in the majority of the games? Interesting take, I never considered that.

Not at all. Just seems the season got off to a steep uphill climb from the get go. Tough calls, OT against Appy, injuries, yeah there were those miraculous comeback wins, but the Hurd fiasco, Danny Obrien, Preston Williams, A&M o/t loss, decimated dline, was a really difficult season, capped off by Vandy loss and Champions for Life. Long season.

A.) That's 3 months old.
B.) It's not even a real article. It's just a blurb saying, "Hey, this happened.."

The targeting call had nothing to do with anything. The season got off to a rocky start and we lost to usc and vandy because we are a soft, fragile poorly coached football team.
We won some exciting games because of the talent in Dobbs, Jennings, Kamara, Barrent and Kirkland and a couple other. They.overcame the position our coaches put them in and are owed much appreciation. Josh Dobbs should be hailed with the greatest players that ever played at Tennessee.
For our sanity we better hope JG is better, cause the coaching isnt going to help.

Wrong. That was the right call. Intent doesn't matter, only that he hit him in the head. Know the rules.

I agree with the OP on the concept of atmosphere. There are several calls that help set the environment for the defense, with targeting calls being one. Hard to be aggressive if you get call for targeting due to hard hit.

Football is football - full contact, but this is being slowly degraded. In 10 years, football will not be AMERICA's SPORT.

If we had a targeting call that could have effected our season somehow it was the no call against Berry. No matter what this was a very disappointing season.Blame games is easy to play, but our players are the ones that worked all year with all the expectations and now has to deal with everyone's disappointment.

Well then you know Berry was knocked out and fumbled on a no call that ended up giving aTm a TD.....and that the Vols were then given two POS flags afterwards....so what?
