Why U.T. has declined to play V.T. the past few years despite repeated efforts from V.T. to schedule a game. V.T. is a far superior team and has been for a number of years. They just got the chance to prove it on the field tonight and obviously they did. We will make it back to where U.T. belongs in the college FB world but it will take time. Fans should be realistic and not put unrealistic expectations on this team next year like many did this year. We are in a rebuilding mode for at least 2 more years. Deal with it. On a positive note ... Very good win for the Basketball Vols ... Congrats to CBP, staff and the players !

The owner of the Bristol Motor Speedway tried to get the teams to play at the speedway, not Tech!!

Is there some sort of new brain-eating virus epidemic? VN is a disaster right now.

I like what VT has done to keep their staff together. I mean you just don't see that anymore.

Va Tech is clearly better. But the idea that we are ducking out of conference games because they are too tough while we've been playing Notre Dame, Cal and have teams like Oregon, Oklahoma and Nebraska in the future is a little silly.

I love how people are acting like Tech is an elite team. They're not. I'm not bashing our coaches and players, but stop acting like we just lost to the Colts. We could have beat those guys.

Congrats to the Hokies, but yes we could have and should have beaten them. Tonight we simply lacked the fire that this team played with all season that allowed us to compete and beat teams that had better talent.

it would have been one of those the better team didn't win games had we pulled that one off. even if you remove our mistakes from the game, we were still overmatched and likely still lose. sucks that we got drilled though.

The owner you are referring to is Bruton Smith. I know him personally and you are correct he is the one who tried for several years to make the game a reality at BMS. The fact is VT was willing to play each time Bruton attempted to make the game a reality. UT is the one who declined every time. If you think otherwise you don't know what you're talking about. Furthermore VT has even tried to schedule UT in a home and home series for the last 5 years and again UT has declined. Those are the facts whether you want to accept it or not.

that doesn't mean the vols are scared. it probably means we'd rather play usc and ohio state level schools.

No one said anything about the Vols being scared that I'm aware of. Where did you get that? I was simply letting Volmaster14 know that VT has indeed tried to schedule a home and home with UT as well as Bruton trying to put the game on at BMS. I love how people shoot from the hip w/o bothering to read what was said.

I've heard numerous times from various sources that Beamer's the one who's declined the offer. Mike Hamilton has said numerous times that we're willing to play this game but can't get anything finalized. Tech doesn't want another game that would hinder their chances to get to 10 wins. I choose not to accept your facts.

Yeah we avoided big bad Va Tech all these years because we are afraid of losing to them. Did we not just play a home and home with Cal, starting with Oregon next year? I also see Ohio State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and USC on future schedules.

Your big bucks theory makes no sense whatsoever, considering both schools would make mega bucks playing at BMS. The capacity is right around 165,000 not to mention TV revenue. Oddly enough the reason UT consistently gave in declining the game was they didn't want to give up the revenue from a home game. That excuse is just lame and doesn't even add up. Go figure.
