It Has GOT to be Campbell (Watch This!)

You can substitute everything he said about Iowa State for Tennessee and it fits perfectly. He wanted a challenge. He saw the energy, the passion, the potential, the Athletic Director, and the challenge of the Conference.

I'm sorry, but I really truly believe this is our next coach. And I think he is the next star in college football.

"I don't care about the money piece.....yuck yuck" beware of the second coming of Butch Jones and just about every coach who says those same tired coach speak lines and denies the money. BS!

Except he’s still at Iowa St despite having many chances to make more over the last few years.

It’s seemingly not a deciding factor, although it’s not as though he’d work for free. (I read he did volunteer to take on a large paycut so others would not have to this year)

If you eliminate anyone with baggage (perceived or real), then Freeze, Kiffin, Chadwell, and Franklin are out.

Eliminating coordinators takes Elliott away.

Getting rid of coaches that IMO have suspect records at their current positions removes Dykes and Fleck.

That leaves us with 1a) Campbell, 1b) Fickell, 3) Herman, and 4) Napier.

No Malzahn? Makes your list laughable unless I missed something and Gus took himself out. We could have had Jimbo...and wound up with cornbread.

If you will look at post #59 from early this morning in this thread, you will see that I addressed overlooking him. I apologize for being so laughable to you.

SF wouldn’t lose credibility from me. He apparently has some really embedded sources but they may be being sold a smoke screen as well. SF can only share what he’s heard.

Too many times a guy with sources shares what he’s been told here and when he’s wrong he’s eaten alive which isn’t fair. If my brother was Danny White I wouldn’t share any insider information here for that very reason.

White is the kinda guy who would deliberately throw out false misleading tidbits to take media off his trail and sniff out disloyal team members etc....He was fair enough to state that Lowe and Feldman would be the1st to know. He prefers confidentiality to a high degree probably because of the possible distractions it could cause to potential candidates. He's on a bigger stage now and there's no time for mistakes from his viewpoint and a sense of urgency. I think there's a good chance that Kiffin is in play but not 1 or 2 although I firmly believe that's the players choice. There's likely to be some current NFL sleepers lurking around that none of us would even think about. Shane Stiechen for example just accepted OC position for the Eagles. A name that few have even heard of.

Vol fans are so many and so diverse that not everyone is going to be happy anyway so he's likely shooting at pleasing the majority if that's possible. Also he may get declined more times than expected up front but that's just this process playing out and he'll adjust quickly and he probably already anticipates that. I think we're in good hands.

Fleck has a suspect record? I think his record is pretty solid - if you throw out his 1-11 in his first year after taking over W. Mich, he has a .627 winning % which is higher than Kiffin

.627 is very respectable when you are considering WMU, and Minn are his HC gigs. Not easy places to post those wins. Yet, he doesn't strike me as a coach to come south. Even his playing career was in the upper half of the states.

The video goes to the character of the man and his reasons for leaving Toledo for Iowa State. if he feels that he's peaked at Iowa State, he might be ready for a challenge like the Tennessee Vols!
He don't feel it yet and has a loaded roster heading into '21. I think he feels it is his year and for that reason he's staying put.....jmo

Campbell would be a grand slam but I doubt it happens. Huge buyout and huge salary to even think about making it happen.
Isn’t his buyout only 6 million? Not that I have that under my mattress but that doesn’t seem bad at all. He only makes 3.5 million annually so double that and call it a day.

6 million is about right I think. Dropped significantly recently I believe

Campbell is very impressive. High integrity guy to boot.
I would love to see him hired here and be highly successful for about 30 plus years.
That would be the awesome!

You my friend know not what you speak. Campbell is what he says he is which I know is rare these days.
