Could it turn out we end up with a better recruiting class than the one we started with?

Considering depth and system fit, it is likely to be "better". IMO

I love Larry Austin;s ceiling, but if he doesn't want to be here, I am happy with replacing him with Suarez and several tall athletes that can get up and down the floor.

OK, time for a little clarification instead of rumor. If you think any of our players would give up a year of eligibility to transfer to another school when they are the likely starters this coming season, bless you. This argument seems to have pretty well been thrown out the window by most in another thread. So here is something interesting to talk about instead of Vandy message boards and 4 of our 7 remaining recruits transferring to another school. Vol Nation is in two camps. One is an optimistic camp where people believe there is reason to believe our basketball program is in good hands. The other is the pessimistic camp which says as one poster said, "the Vols will finish last in the SEC" next year because they lost everybody. So the question becomes, which camp are you in and why?:)

Oh well. So much for that.

We need young men who will win basketball games. To fulfill that good, it's usually more important to have the right talent than the right attitude.

The spin is getting out of control around here. I don't care what VN's armchair psychologists say, these decommitments and transfers are going to make us a worse basketball team - which, of course, means fewer wins and more losses. Make no mistake about that.

that CCM never sold the Univ. of TN to any of the players or the recruits. He simply sold himself and his staff to the players. Now before anyone starts the "players commit to coaches and not universities", I have never seen such a exodus of recruits and players when a coach left. It tells me that CCM never intended to stay at UT or felt it was a good place for a student athlete. He always says the right things but his actions say something else. Very disappointed these young men believe they need CCM as their coach to be happy at UT. CCM sure didn't sell the virtues of the university. That is obvious!
They've seen the virtues of the university the way they handled coach Martin. You may not have liked him, but we looked like a joke the way we treated him, and then the bargain basement coaching search, we had to pay a coach who wasn't even one of our top ten choices, 1.6 million when no one else in the country was willing to pay 500 thousand.

When it appears the UT athletic dept showed only marginal support for the men's basketball program(martin), that the boosters have WAY TOO MUCH influence over athletics at UT and a certain set of the fan base running around wanting Bruce back to the extent they start a petition drive for his reinstatement, this is what you get - martin leaves, then all his signed recruits leave and 2 current players are leaving too.

Shame on UT, the boosters and those who wanted Bruce back.

You got what you wanted, a big pile of you know what, ****!!

Now that is hilarious! You can't honestly believe that?

CCM isn't going to coach any of them so what are you talking about? The fact that UT didn't retain ANY of their recruits and lost two current players says it all. It could've been worse. Hubbs could've decided to go elsewhere.

You and several others have a lot of nerve using the word optimistic. But it's even funnier to see you all as the 'optimistic crowd' now when a month or two ago you were the 'pessimistic crowd'(for no reason). We are worse off at the moment than we would've been if CCM was still here. Anyone who cant see that is hopeless.
