For a new coach to cut bait with a coordinator after only one year. I’m not certain what happened between Saban and Applewhite but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t MAs decision to leave after only one year. I have literally no idea if it’s even financially feasible to walk away from Helton at this point. But he’s made ZERO progress with JG in 8 months. For the money we’re paying Helton we could have Kendall Briles or the head coach at Austin Peay. Not sure if Pruitt is down with Osovets offensive philosophy, but I’m confident he has a better feel for play calling than TH. JMO.

LOL. JG is playing much better than last year. That's not all that matters but its a little early to fire an OC that has inherited an offensive line that's not able to block a good peewee team

Kiffin and Cheney got Georgias defensive Coordinator fired with an Oline that was as limited as this one. Maybe you weren’t watching when we were trotting out the Sullins twins and a center who had to retire due to knee damage.

What is it with you and championing under-performing coaches?

Did you enjoy doing it so much during the last 5 years when you were carrying water for Butch and his circus, that you just can't stop?

You completely missed the point.

You hire an OC that you trust, you give him time to get adjusted to the offense, find the QB’s strengths, etc.

We’re only 4 games into the season and we have fans already wanting Helton fired.

He took over a train wreck of an O-Line with average players who aren’t SEC material except for Trey Smith.

Why tf would any HC fire an OC with 4 games into the season? Why even hire them in the first place?

A good OC, has to take stock of the players he has, and schemes around them. We saw for 5 years, what trying to shoehorn an offense without the personnel gets you.

This isn't one game, Helton hasn't called a good game outside of the second half of the ETSU game, which was ok, all year. Even against paltry UTEP, he couldn't dial up a consistent offense.

I wouldn't fire him mid season, but if the offense continues on its current trajectory, I don't see how Pruitt risks another year with him considering we aren't likely to see much oline improvement before 2020.

For the record, I wasn’t advocating firing him tomorrow. Mine was more of a hypothetical of at the end of the season if things haven’t improved any. Maybe I should have been more clear about that. But for those who say the end of the year is overreactionary, I would say that he’s currently one of the top 12 paid coordinators in the game, and I’m not sure we’re one of the top 12 offenses in our conference.

1) What a brilliant response. Really showing off the All Star discussion skills.
2) Due to mouth breathers like yourself, I spend 99% of my time in the recruiting forum and RARELY ever start a thread. So if my posting style isn’t for you, you can sleep easy knowing you won’t see it often. In the meantime you can definitely kiss my ass though.

I just think it is ridiculous to call or discuss coaches heads less than half way through their first year. I'm not sure why reasonable people would give threads like this legitimacy.

It never fails...………………….after every loss, someone on here wants to fire a coach.

Well to be completely forthcoming, I watched a good bit of USC football last year, and I absolutely didn’t want him at the time he was hired.Maybe I have a pre-bias and it clouds my opinion but I don’t really feel like he’s done much to better my opinion. Maybe it makes view of him less valid, but it’s definitely not a knee jerk reaction after one loss.

So you see progress and feel good about the direction of the offense? BTW Florida has 3 points at the half against MSU.

MSU returned their entire defensive line with two LB from a 9 and 4 win team. The players are also fired up to play against their formwr coach. Our returners were part of the worst season ever. Cannot compare the two.

Man, how are you not a coach at a D1 powerhouse school making millions a year?
