Israel vs Palestinians II

Singapore, probably others.
So it's possible. Well, good. At least you can admit that.

Bless your heart. It's like your urinating in a strong wind and wondering why you're wet.

Israel is the closest thing to bare minimum in the region. No other MENA country is even close for democracy. But that's bad. So, gotta offer self governance which has yet to work in their history. Terrorist groups will continue to abuse the people. I guess they get what they deserve. Until someone successful at governing takes over, it's a worthless and hopeless mess.

From AI.
Here's the question i asked:
Are there any countries in the world which rank high on all of the following things: peace, prosperity, democracy, and human rights protection?

The countries that consistently appear in the top tier (the top 10-20 globally) across all four indices are:

1. **Iceland**
2. **Denmark**
3. **New Zealand**
4. **Ireland**
5. **Switzerland**
6. **Finland**
7. **Norway**
8. **Austria**
9. **Canada**

These nations represent the global standard for combining high levels of economic well-being and social stability with strong democratic institutions and comprehensive protection of civil liberties and political rights.

Looks like the key is to turn Gaza over to white people who like cold climates. Sounds good to me. Problem solved.

With a football team named The Fighting Caucasians.

I'm not the one holding up a country as an ideal that it doesn't come close to meeting. Factor in Israel's repeated poor (which is a very weak modifier given what they've done) treatment of the people who are to be supplied with new leadership, and it's obvious that they're about the worst possible choice to be that new leadership.

imo Singapore has struck the "sweet spot" for conservatism and liberal balance. Interesting to me you'd choose them as they do maintain stricter control over media etc.
They think of themselves as a meritocracy / technocracy and prioritize pragmatics over partisanship. The terms liberal and conservative as a rule aren't part of their political discussions.
On the positive side, rights are maintained pretty much equally across ethnic and income lines and have increased over the last several years. That said, it's not a bastion of free expression but neither is it terribly oppressive. The government does control traditional media and filters the web, but those so inclined can go online and see what news sources they want with a VPN.
For its relative lack of liberty and high education levels, the people don't rock the boat much. The government's good at providing inducements in return for support. The country's really really rich so they can afford to do that.

Remember, you're the one who poopoo'd the idea of Israel controlling the area. You think Gaza should be in charge if itself. There is no track record that works. You cannot name any other country from the region better to be in control...because there is none. They are all worse than Israel.
So, the idea (which will never happen), is better than anything being proposed; obliterate Hamas and turn control over to Israel (or white people from a cold climate).

This peace deal seems too good to be true. Everyone seems happy about it including the Palestinians. Qatar is applying a lot of pressure as well as Turkey and Pakistan.

This top-down idea that we should install someone in power that is "closest to our values" or whatever is why we keep destroying the Middle East, it's failed over and over and you're doing it again. Someone that kills over 100K people from a group is not then some benevolent choice to be in charge of that group, that should be obvious

Gaza and Palestinians have a better track record??? Someone or some group is always installed...either by bad decisions of Gazans or through force over the people.

The people need to be governed by someone else. Israel is the easiest and most logical. But somebody better than Israel would be great, too. Iceland?

Ironically, I am typically anti top down approaches to government. Desperate times, though.

IMO it’s an unworkable plan without the complete elimination of all Hamas members either by bullet or incarceration.

I think the guarantee of amnesty is in there to preemptively destroy any talking points when Hamas rejects the proposal. It's not really feasible but, at the same time, how can Hamas reject amnesty unless their goal is to fight to the death of themselves and as many civilians as possible?
