The income tax was implemented to cover the expense of the war. After the war was over, the tax was to be stopped. We have been in a war some where ever since.

Poised between a govt. torturing its own people and a terrorist group torturing, well, people, it was a difficult decision. I wouldn't exactly say that our administration was "giving support" to ISIS.

I evidently sleep through those wars. We have had a few light conflicts between Vietnam and 9-11 that lasted a few days
With it lasting a few months. For the most part we have lived in peace.

I'm not sure Desert Shield/Storm would qualify as a "light" conflict.

And the fact we've had people continuously over there since Desert Storm might not be "combat" but it certain does wear and tear at your manpower and equipment.

Desert Storm. I loved watching CNN on the updates to the fighting. CNN showed at one time that the Apache Helicopters moving from one tank to the other firing at will until the enemy crawled out of those tanks & surrendered. Something about that was so amazing coming from the USA muscle of dominance.

Speaking of Desert Storm I remember all the anchors being so happy because they were about to see "shock and awe."

When we finally starting blowing the crap out of them, I still remember one CNN anchor pointing at the screen and saying this is the shock and awe we were promised as missile after missile went flying.

These wars are ****ing pointless.

Pull us out and let them destroy themselves.

They'll sit down with him over a glass of milk and some Halal compliant cookies and request he not be such a bad boy.

If that isn't a troll job, then maybe they really are ready to strike soon. I'd have a hard time believing someone would troll like that since it wouldn't be impossible to track down the owner of the twitter account. I'm curious as to what is written in Arabic on that phone.

If you're referring to the graphic, that is the ISIS flag. I may be mistaken, but I think it is the one saying from the 5 pillars of Islam that all Muslims have to say. The "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet" thing, which is perfectly understandable although Islamists have made it into a very annoying line. Just like "Allahu Akbar." Everytime I hear someone say that now, I just want to go sew my head to the carpet.

I'm guessing their definition of "American operative" is a very loose one. Nonetheless, if they really have captured two people for this propaganda purpose, I wish the two the best. The odds will be against them.
