I no longer have any public figure who is the standard bearer for my political ideology. That realization got me to thinking. We live in a country where voters are choosing the lesser of bad candidates rather than choosing someone who articulates their views. I also think the views we discuss here are hyper-rigid because it is fun to have an outlet for our argumentative nature but many of us don't hold steadfast to the points we fight about in this forum.

So here are my questions:
1. Who is/are the current political figure(s) (elected, formerly elected, or running as candidate in elections) who most closely align with your own political ideology?

2. Who are the public figures , living or dead (authors, bloggers, thinkers, entertainers, political show hosts, deceased politicians etc), who do a great job of representing your views on how American politics should function?

3. Lastly, how many of you like pie and what is your favorite pie (even though this isn't a poll)?

1. Amash was the closest. Definitely not 100% but he has been the only one I could see myself voting for. Kemp does a pretty good job of pissing off both sides. Which seems like a positive direction for how the government should proceed. I cant say how often he accomplishes it, but I firmly believe that we cant improve anything in this nation by listening to or appeasing just one party.
2. I have no idea. Maybe Dave Chappelle? No idea what his actual political stances are, but he also seems to tee off on pissing both sides off. And he isnt PC at all.
3. I am ambivalent on pie, but chocolate chess pie.

Boortz/ Sowell and the real Ron Swanson. PJ O Rourke, but sadly my options for communicating with him have gotten limited to prayer and seance.

Can't think of anyone. I'd like to see:

1. Fiscal conservative in terms of government spending.
2. Eliminates tax structure that favors the ultra wealthy way too much.
3. Favors term limits for Congress. I'm thinking House max four terms of two years each, except for Speaker and Minority Leader who can go two more such terms. Senate two 6 year terms and that's it.
4. Leaves culture wars at the front door every morning and says government has no role in that.
5. Open and routine dialogue with all trading partners. None of this posturing nonsense.
6. Strong priority on energy independence built on both petroleum production and alternative fuels.
7. Supports increased funding for law enforcement in the form of higher salaries to attract better people and better training.

For starters.

I am more of a cake guy. Or bourbon. Definitely bourbon.

1. I have no idea. There are platforms and talking points, then there are actions. I can’t think of any living politician that represents my views.

2. I like to listen to Jon Stewart, Matt Damon, & Dave Chapelle wax poetic about politics and society, but I don’t completely align with any of them it seems.

3. Razzleberry or gtfo

You should look into Mitch Daniels - checks most of these boxes and is calm but firm. Excellent leader

Sadly I doubt he'll run

1. Justin Amash, Thomas Massie, although not 100% in lockstep with either one.

2. There's no 100% pick for me, but I have enjoyed reading (and reading about) Barry Goldwater and find myself agreeing with a lot of his stances more often than not.

3. Mmmm, pie. I am a big fan of chess pie (regular and chocolate varieties).
