Is UT having a hard time selling season tickets?

I did renew but really put some thought into whether to do so or not. This may be my last year - really depends upon whether the atmosphere improves in Neyland this year. Last year all the "coaches" in the stands who yelled at not only the coaches but at the players really turned me off. Doesn't make for a good atmosphere.

I also figured that if it does continue then I can sell the Bama tickets and recoup some of the money.

I have no problem with losing records - I can handle those. But drunk obnoxious so called fans who yell and curse ... I can do without and would rather stay home.

Yep, i learned a long time ago to get the most expensive tickets i can afford. Goes for titans games too. The expereince is usually much better that way.

But i will say at the b.o.b. my son and i had a drunk couple sitting next to us. The apologized for getting up and leaving their seats so many times they actually bought my son and i tshirts.

Yup 8 more years and retirement...again. First was Military retirement.

Not a bad way to go, double dipping. Good friend of mine, his older brother was an Army lifer in Intelligence and then a consultant to the government and managed to get 3 pensions. Myself, enjoying a life of leisure where work is my daily bread, got to keep at it too, with 2 kids in expensive colleges (just picked up my daughter this afternoon, returning home for a month after 2 years at Georgetown, and my son lined up to begin at Rice U in the fall...). But it's not bad being one's own boss, no more pinheads to answer to and no more young whippersnapper bosses from Germany (although a few of them were pretty good guys).

Pruitt is in a tough spot. He doesn't have the gravitas to move the needle, yet he desperately needs that needle to move if he has any hope of signing the quality of players that it's going to take to go toe to toe with UGA, Bama, and the rest. His only hope is to win some games this year with lesser talent utilizing some of those same players that he says gave up in the Spring game. I don't envy him but in light of what he's being paid I don't feel sorry for him either.

There is only one thing more profitable than being the Head Coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. That is being an ex-Head Coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. We pay people very well not to coach.

Coupled with a recent habit of hiring losers for AD who in turn negotiate losing deals with losers pretending to be coaches. Hiring Fulmer as AD should put all that back on the right track - if we can keep him - the administration being what it is.

I think you can make a case for Tennessee winning more games when there is really a home field advantage. I attended regularly when going to UT and a VASF member with season tickets. Now the road trip is tougher and hard to find someone who wants to drive three hours up and back. Doesn’t make me less of a fan. Hope Knoxville area UT fans will support the team and Coach Pruitt as he tries to turn things around. Having a visitors crowd bigger than home team crowd probably won’t help.

Yeah at got two in college as well. Not cheap by any means.

Yes demand is once again low this year. So was last year. I'm sure they will offer season tix in the south endzone for face value to current donors. And yes I'd expect to see mini-packs this year.

where would one find these tickets and does anyone know what game will be checker boarded my wife who is from long island (they don't know collage football up there) has become the biggest fanatic in just 3 years has never seen it

Only Vols coach not to be fired in the past 48 years is Lane Kiffin.

As a trivia note, wonder who was the last Vols coach to "retire" willingly from the job?

This is one of the reasons I mov d again. If it is confined to be this way, I may be out. We are not talking about an occasional word but way more than that.

Good product on the field will result in bigger home crowds. It’s simple, Tennessee fans are sick of wasting their hard earned money

Yes. What other metric would we use? VN post count?

Some of our best fans can't afford season tickets.

Dedication. Listening to games when can't watch. Watching till the end despite the score. Going to a game when they're 3-8. Not afraid to wear team gear in down year.

Those are what makes a fan. Not the amount of money one spends

Pruitt also hasn't been very good at generating excitement either - which is a must after a season like last year.

Hate to say it, but when Kiffin was hired, excitement went through the roof. Of course, we were coming off an awful season then as well. Probably just the difference between hiring an offensive guy and a defensive guy. Defensive coaches tend to be less flamboyant than offensive coaches

I'm sure there will be a bunch of leftovers. Price is quite expensive for what you get in return. Some fans like the couch. Bathrooms and kitchen close by and they can do as the please. UT and the stupid tobacco free campus policy will drive some away as well.

Likely decided by actuarial tables. Decreased loss of revenue from ardent smokers is surpassed by increased life span of those more willing to attend tobacco-free event.

Most people are glad it's become a tobacco free campus because it's a much healthier environment as a result

Stupid policy was meant to benefit the students, you know that 99% of the unheard stakeholders in these discussions about the campus. Why can't we just get rid of them anyway? They add almost nothing to the fooball experience, other than tuition, players, support staff, a "student section..."
