Is UT a pre-season ranked team in 2020?

Does the Vols' current winning streak (that will continue vs Indiana), coupled with a great recruiting class and a favorable schedule mean a pre-season ranking? Do the Vols possibly see some love around spots 23-25?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised....thoughts?
I don't like it, cause we'll drop right back out if we lose to Oklahoma

Nebraska started 0-6 in 2018 and won 4 of the last 6 to finish 4-8 and were ranked in the 2019 preseason poll. The bump was probably because of the expectations for Scott Frost.

They’ll be close. I’ll guess around 30

Yes if we beat Indiana and end 2019 on a 6 game winning streak.

It's fun to speculate but it doesn't matter. If we are able to make the next step and beat Oklahoma then we will know that the old Tennessee is back. We'll have plenty of chances to prove ourself next season

If we win bowl game and win the season opener, I expect us to be ranked in Top 25 when we play a likely Top 6 OU team in Norman.

Can't wait to be in Norman for the upset.

The last time we started off the season ranked we tumbled outside of it and turned out to be a laughing stock of college football. Preseason rankings don't really mean much but I'd rather enter the season unranked and earn a ranking by whipping some competition. Beating Oklahoma would make us legit imo.

Its all about the TV revenue! We beat UI like rented mule and we will be 15th in the preseason. Not neccesarily because we deserve it but because we play OK in game 2. They will be in the top 10, maybe as high as 5th!
#13 VOLS vs #5 Sooners!
I like it!!!
GBO!

Depending on if and how we we win our bowl game, I predict we'll be ranked no lower than 21, no higher than 16

No and hopefully not imo. Gonna have QB and WR questions. No bellcow running back and although our OL should be better and deeper, sure looks like we may be losing our best one in Smith. Still a lot to prove and a lot of improvements to be made on offense. Certainly like what we return on defense, should definitely be the best unit.

Reason why I hope they’re not ranked in preseason is so they play with an edge from the get, something they sure as hell didn’t do this past year. Make em earn a top 25 spot with their play early.

It would be nice to see that, but I'm not expecting it. The powers that be tends to never give us any love so I expect them to make us earn it the hard way.
Would be nice to dominate the bowl game enough to slip into the final top 25 after the bowl games, at least that would give them something to think about.

If we take care of business like we should in the bowl game, we should be ranked about 16-23 preseason. Even though we are losing some big time players (Bituli, Jennings, Calloway, Warrior, Taylor, DWA), we return about 16-17 starters and have decent depth all-around going into the 2020 season.

You're not good with either math or letters...:p
I think if we win big vs IU they could get put in the 20-25 area but we do have a substantial opportunity week 2 to break into the top 15 after beating some Sooner tail.
Well it was only three words

No way. We haven’t earned it yet.

Earned or not, IF we win our bowl game, especially if it doesnt seem that close, we will be ranked pre-season. I would bet most anything I have on it. The story would just be too good, Pruitt has a lot of respect from other coaches, now with Chaney in second year, etc.

Favorable schedule? An SEC east round robin coupled with the Alabama game and a road trip to Oklahoma is not 'favorable' in my book.

That said, if we win the bowl game we have a 50/50 shot at being ranked preseason imo.

Preseason ranking is a weird voodoo, what's it based on, other than last season, who left and who committed, you can add "on a roll", but the preseason team, was not/is not the same team. I'd like to see a break-down on the factors for each rater, but I'd bet recruiting/recruited class ranking has a big impact. Where we are ranked after the first couple of games should be a very strong indicator.
