Does the Vols' current winning streak (that will continue vs Indiana), coupled with a great recruiting class and a favorable schedule mean a pre-season ranking? Do the Vols possibly see some love around spots 23-25?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised....thoughts?

With a win in the bowl game I think they might slip in the preseason top 25. We haven’t been ranked since the middle of September 2017

ESPN dropped an article today essentially saying win and yes, the vols with get the bowl bump.

The 12 biggest questions for bowl season

  • Tennessee: Jeremy Pruitt's Vols won their last five regular-season games to go from 2-5 and 51st in SP+ to 7-5 and 32nd. This improvement is probably enough for UT to get ranked in the preseason polls next year despite key turnover. Add an unexpectedly easy win over Indiana in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Jan. 2 and who knows where they might end up?

I agree, beat Indiana and we are in. We just have to beat out Kentucky just like we did for the Gator.

Yes, IF we win the bowl game we’ll definitely be Top 25 ranked in preseason (for what that’s worth).

And IMO our roster turnover is overstated by a lot of folks, including the ESPN article above. We only lose about 6 seniors in the two deep depth chart. Acknowledge those are 6 damn good ball players, but losing that # in the two deep is very low. I’d guess we lose Trey Smith to NFL, but hope the other attrition is low.

With a dominate win there a slight chance. I’d say most likely they’ll be just outside the top 25. But we play Oklahoma week 2. So if we handle our business there we might make our debut inside the top 15
I don't disagree, however; even while I'm improving, I haven't completely shaken this BVS. My optimism says you're dead on and my pessimism feels we could lose to Oklahoma and drop from around the 25 spot to 60-70 something. Everyone hates us.
GBO!!!

Honestly, I think Pruitt could care less. I really dont think he puts alot of stock in winning the bowl game. He just wanted the extra practices. As has been said, beat OU we'll be in top 15 going into FL.

I'd be surprised if we were ranked preseason too be honest. We will have a big group of seniors next year so we might. I think if we have good showings in the beginning of the season, we might be ranked before we play uf (SEC would like that for ratings)

You better believe he wants to finish 3 games over 500 vs 1 game over. Plus it may factor into our recruiting success for the few spots we have left before NSD.

Nevermind all that. I just want our Vols to go out on the field and maul teams. The rest of the stuff like ranking and such will take care of itself.

I’m guessing yes. Nebraska was ranked this preseason.
