Is Ty Chandler the fastest back in the SEC?

Byrd was said to be the fastest player on the team 2-3 years ago, doubt that’s still the case, jmo. As far as Chandler gaining weight, it’s a good thing for his potential on-field play. Plus, I believe he’s only gained around 7 pounds or so, from 201 last year to 208 as reported recently....that shouldn’t hurt his speed at all.
He played between 190 - 195 last year. As of last Thursday he was at 203 and hoping to get in the 210 to 215 range before the summer. More than likely will play in the 205 - 210 range. His speed hasn't been affected.

If I thought you were capable of understanding the meaning of a double-entendre, I’d explain it to you. How does that air taste?
Bless your heart! Your first three words say it all. Again, you make the mistake of believing you are the smartest person in the room.
My post was light hearted BTW.

Yes he is easily the fastest RB in the SEC.

Doesnt mean he is the best. But he's up there.

I think he is one of the best players overall in the conference. Very good Pass catcher
Good blocker...just doesn't break tackles.

Kamara and Kelly spoiled us

No. Swift at UGA is definitely faster, Kam Martin at Auburn might be the fastest back in the league. The WillIams kid SC and the Crockett kid at Mizzou can burn it and are probably a bit faster as well.
Chandler has good speed, but isn't exactly a burner. A 100% healthy Chandler mixed with some good O line play and a deep threat WR from somewhere to back opposing safeties up should be plenty fast enough to have some great success.

How did this post get so many likes!?

You're thinking about Tim Jordan. He's got good speed. Chandler has GREAT speed for a RB. He doesn't get caught from behind.

Ask Auburn and UGA.
He ran away from both defenses on pass plays.

Lol. It’s obviously the off-season when you see hyperbole like this.

Verified 40 times from 247:

Ty Chandler 4.40
Kam Martin 4.39
D'Andre Swift 4.43
Ty'Son Williams 4.65

Nothing listed for Crockett.

A Notre Dame football message board said running back Eric Gray's time in the 40 yard dash was 4.57

A straight line non disturbed 40 is deceiving. It’s not often a rb will have a 0-40 yrd sprint. That is why a back like Jalen Hurd does very well in a non disturbed sprint but he is not game fast. The game doesn’t offer strait ahead non contested sprints. He is powerful and very effective but not break away fast. Backs like Kamara can stop and go in a hurry. Kamara did not have an impressive non disturbed 40 but has crazy game speed. The game is not not played undisturbed.
There is no way to really measure who is the fastest back because every play is different.

On the track, Auburn's Shaun Shivers (10.29 100m in HS) is probably the SEC's fastest RB. On the field, Chandler (10.83 100m in HS) is plenty fast enough to excel as an SEC RB.

The fastest football player in the SEC is likely Shivers' sophomore teammate, WR Anthony Schwartz (10.07 100m in HS).

He was listed at 201. Last article I saw discussing it said he was at 208, which I think would be a good weight for him. I agree that his speed won’t be affected, and if it is a bit, he has more than enough to spare and still be one of the fastest on the field.

You have no earthly idea if Swift is “definitely faster” than Ty. He’s a better running back, hes shifty with phenomenal lateral movement and quickness, he’s special. But faster? You have no way of knowing. Same goes for the other backs you’re comparing Ty’s speed to.

On a side note, last I looked last year, Ty was taking a little swing pass and running through and right by Georgia’s very good, talented defense like they were standing still. He’s definitely a burner when he’s in the open field....he’s just gotta get better getting himself into the open field.

As Coach Pruitt said "Ty has some juice to him". Get Ty a crease and you'll see the back of his #8 jersey in a hurry. If he starts making the safety miss he'll lead the NCAA in 20+ yarders and ypc. The guy averaged 5.5 yards a pop with a sh*t stain for a offensive line, and a putrid play caller.

Hes hoping to play around that weight. That I know. He also has a hard time holding a weight once they get into heavy conditioning.

He can carry 210 but I think that's about the top.
